Re: Allergic Reaction to Oxi

I'm not sure if this is relevant to your mom's case, but I thought I'd share in case it is helpful. Five years ago when my dad was doing his adjuvant folfox treatments he had a severe allergic reaction to oxi during his second infusion. It was so bad that we had an ambulance rush him to the hospital...

Re: Counts too low...

My dad's naturopath recommends wheatgrass. She says you can use a wheatgrass capsule or buy the frozen wheatgrass from the health food store. We haven't tried it yet, but his naturopath works primarily with cancer patients so it might be worth a try. It also might be worth checking to make sure it d...

Re: Question for those who know about peri mets

My dad had a recurrence in the peritoneum and a tumour at the resection site confirmed last month. Before it was discovered he was having very sharp abdominal pain that mainly occurred after he had eaten a larger meal. I think the pain was a result of the tumour on in his colon. He did have pain fro...

Re: Ned from Hipec ends here

Hi Steph, I'm very sorry for your bad news. I really really want there to be a cure for you too. Maybe there still is. Things can change so quickly. I don't have any other words of wisdom to offer since I can't pretend to know what you are going through. All I can do is send you good thoughts and wi...

Re: Update on my dad and looking for info on vectibix

I have no info on vectibix. Just wanted to say I hope your dad is feeling better so that he can enjoy your daughter's wedding and wish you all the best from one Canadian daughter to another. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Re: Peritoneal carcinomatosis with lymph node involvement

Hi Steph, Thanks for checking in on us. I hope you are doing well. The surgeon that my dad saw at Mount Sinai recommended Hipec with Dr. G, so we are just waiting to hear from him. In the meantime we have requested a transfer to PMH for treatment. My dad started his treatment at Credit Valley until ...

Re: Checking In; BrownBagger Update

I don't post much, but read everything and I've followed your story with great interest since I joined back in 2011. You remind me a lot of my dad. He loves to garden, he loves his bike and he loves his family. I'm hoping that will help him get through his future treatments. You have always been a g...

Re: Peritoneal carcinomatosis with lymph node involvement

Hi Steph, Hope you are doing ok. Thanks for checking in on us. It means a lot. So we didn't get the official word from Dr. G. It was my dad's onc who told us he wasn't a candidate for Hipec. What I came to learn later on was that oncologists really don't know that much about surgery and surgeons kno...

Peritoneal carcinomatosis with lymph node involvement

Hi everyone. I just returned from a visit to the oncologist with my dad. I am so incredibly sad. Back in April at 5 years post diagnosis of stage 2b colon cancer, there were some abnormalities on his ct scan. There was thickening of the bowel and peritoneal nodules. He had a colonoscopy which showed...

Re: Oxaliplatin allergic reaction

My dad had a severe reaction to the oxy during his second round of folfox. Some itchiness, a fever, vomiting and very low blood pressure. It was so bad that the hospital told him to get his affairs in order. Once they realized it was an allergic reaction the doctor lowered his dose of oxy by 20% and...
