Re: Likely reactive- Shouldn't I be concerned?

Thank you! I am so glad to see what you two wrote- and it fits the scenario. I had an amoeba and salmonella a few weeks prior. I was probably trying to fight off an infection! Thank you for your replies!

Likely reactive- Shouldn't I be concerned?

This is what the CT scan. I'm told to come back in one year for another exam, but doesn't this mean something? I am reacting to the "Likely reactive comments". Abdominal Lymph Nodes and Retroperitoneum: No enlarged abdominal or pelvic lymph nodes. A few scattered prominent mesenteric lymph...

A sore bottom- diaper rash med recommendation?

My bottom is sore almost like before surgery last year. I recently had a colonoscopy and a CT scan- so no obvious problem. (CEA is not in the normal range but it isn't too high either.) Is there any ointment that you recommend? I'm using butt paste now. I am still going to the restroom 6-8 times a d...

barely above normal WBC count

I forgot to ask this question but my WBC count is just above normal. My CEA has risen to 5.8 but the cat scan and the colonoscopy showed no reason for immediate concern. I will have another scope next year.

Does a low WBC count and a slightly higher than normal CEA mean anything?

Sealy,

Your are so young, Are you seeing a board certified colorectal surgeon? I don't have any significant advise for you, but I'm sure others will.

POPCORN after surgery

Can you eat it? Does it mess with you?

I am slowly coming to a conclusion that I don't want-but I think should leave popcorn alone. However, I'd love to be wrong.
Popcorn is my comfort food.

Can you eat popcorn or does it cause you potty problems?

1 year follow up after LAR

I had my colonoscopy and cat scan done over the last two weeks. Colonoscopy detected a benign area that was suspicious but determined benign. Cat scan- same results as last year. CEA results are the questionable part. The number has changed/risen 4.8 in June 2016, 2.6 in December 2016, and now 5.6 i...

Re: Stage 1 with no surgery...any thoughts?

I had the surgery. I was also stage 1 and the choice was mine. Am I glad for the surgery? It's a pain at times- even a year out. But I sleep better knowing the area is completely clear of cancer. In my personal situation, the anxiety would have been too high to not have surgery as I live overseas wi...

Fertility drugs and colon cancer

I read an article on a facebook group where a doctor is trying to link colon cancer with egg donation (and I'm taking it one step further to say fertility drugs in general). She thinks the fertility drugs caused her daughter to get colon cancer at a young age. Is there any science behind this? How m...

Thanks. My initial diagnosis was done in Thailand. That's why I want to take her there. Vacation and check up at the same time.

Is colon cancer preventable if caught early?

What advise do you give to your younger family members about getting colonoscopies? Do you encourage them to start even before the 10 years early diagnosis mark? If they have IBS symptoms, do you encourage them to get a colonoscopy right away? I have a teenage daughter and I'm worried for her. I dou...

Thank you, Lee, for answering. I will let them know. I don't want it postponed if I can avoid it as I flew in from Africa for this test.

If you had a clean colonoscopy one month ago, I would assume you could breath a little bit easier than if you didn't have a fresh scan.

Have you called your doctor yet?

My 1 year colonoscopy is scheduled for June 1st and now I have salmonella and amoeba bacteria poisoning..

I live in Africa and became ill with both salmonella and an amoeba in the beginning of May. This was the first time that I got sick with this kind of bacteria. I saw my employers medical doctor there and he gave me medications to both kill the bacterias as well as the eggs. A week ago, I started hav...
