Re: Irinotecan failed...not sure what to do

" initially received treatment outside Norfolk, VA, however I had to relocate to eastern North Carolina for personal reasons. Since coming to the area I feel like the clinic is not up to the standard of professionalism I became accustomed to in Virginia. (the nurses are wonderful folks, the doc...

Re: Calling all June Birthdays

My DH, Blaise, will be celebrating his 51st birthday on June 22. He was a real warrior this past year and a half and is doing well at this time. We will be taking a motorcycling trip to Cortez Colorado the week before his birthday. :D

Re: New and need some advice

I seem to remember my husband passing some mucous after his surgery and ileostomy. Nothing with blood in it, though. Just to be safe put a call in to your doctor and let them know. It may be something residual but you want to make sure.

Re: Insurance denial advice.

This gentleman had to fight BCBS New Jersey for HIPEC. He ended up getting the insurance to cover it. https://www.change.org/p/horizon-blue-cross-blue-shield-of-nj-reverse-your-decision-to-deny-john-waage-cytoreductive-surgery-with-hyperthermic-intraperitoneal-chemotherapy-hipec/u/10198386?recruiter...

Re: "Mini" Poops or is it "Many" Poops?

Many, mini poops for DH (2 months out of reversal) but 18 fiber pills a day seems to have him clustering more. Water- lots of water is helping also. Doc says to walk and be active as well, but neuropathy is bad in his feet and he can't walk for that long. He has good days and not good days but he st...

Re: Last folfox treatment and Question about Scans?

DH had his first CT scan almost 1 year to the day of the colonoscopy that discovered the cancer. He had surgery in July 2014 so they are doing his colonoscopy in July 2015. He'll be having another CT in 9/2015 and then 6 months after that. In between times, he will be seeing the onc for blood work o...

Re: First CT Scan after treatment

Thanks all. We're still adjusting to our schedules once again. DH went back to work on the 17th. He's still trying to walk at lunch time. Last night we went to Lowes for a few things and he had to keep finding places to sit down because his feet hurt so much. I feel terrible for him- it's one thing ...

Re: How much do you share on Facebook?

Since we live far from our families we both have FB pages and most of the people on there are friends. I keep VERY tight controls on who can see what on my FB page. We both post often about Blaise's progress and have gotten a tremendous amount of support. We have also joined a colon/rectal cancer su...

First CT Scan after treatment

DH had his first CT scan after treatments and surgeries yesterday. Scan was clear. CEA was .7. In June he will have his first colonoscopy and another CT scan in 6 months. The odd thing is he developed neuropathy about 3 weeks ago- down halfway on his fingers and all of his feet. Onc. was puzzled and...

Re: Is or has anyone else done neoadjuvant chemo?

DH had Xeloda and radiation prior to surgery. He had a 5cm tumor about 10cm up from rectum. They wanted to see if the tumor would shrink and it responded well to the treatments- went from 5 cm to 2.5 cm. He also went from 4 lymph nodes involved to 1 with minute traces of cancer. After surgery he did...
