Re: HELP! Post surgery pain

Could be gas pain. Gas pain is the worst. Pain medicine doesn’t help it at all.

Re: Does anyone NOT feel supported

In my 11 years on this board, the ONLY discoed I have seen on this board has involved mpbser. She has a history of not playing nice with folks on this board or the group on Facebook. Let us not make this post about her as it is exactly what she wants. To hijack some one else’s post to get attention ...

Re: Lynch syndrome questions

I was diagnosed 11 years ago with lynch. It has gotten much better over the years. When I was first diagnosed, most doctors had not heard of it yet. I have moved around 4 times in the last 10 years so I’ve seen a lot of new doctors. In the past 5 years or so, all my doctors have been familiar with l...

Re: New member thoughts on being "cured"

I think having cancer changes us. I am considered cured from two different cancers. While my body does not function as well as it used to, I count my blessings. There are many people who will never hear the word cured, many people who will never ring the bell upon completing chemo. I’ll take my lot ...

Re: New member / ileo problem

You might try the discussion boards at Ostomy.org.

https://www.uoaa.org/forum/index.php

This board is not super active anymore and not all of us have ostomies. A former member who passed a couple months ago used to direct people here for ostomy questions and concerns. Best of luck.

Re: Pill thru j tube

I am a nurse and this is based on my own experience. Pills are meant to be digested in the stomach and absorbed in the intestines. When you crush them, it can change the absorption rate and efficacy. Some pills cannot be crushed at all. You have the added issue of a j tube. The problem with putting ...

Re: Airline experiences?

I lived in Thailand for several years. My experience with international flights in general is there is a lot less flexibility. There are limited flights to start with. Some of these long flights might be offered only once per day. Chicago to New York is a short flight with dozens of flights offered ...

Re: Just need to vent because I’m angry

Life isn’t fair. Your sister doesn’t owe it to you to put herself through chemo. Your love and support should not be dependent upon her choosing treatment you approve of. Not one of us is going to beat the clock. The only guarantee in life is that we are all going to die. You have an opportunity to ...

Re: HELP! suspended treatment (nephrology)

Have they mentioned dialysis? In my experience as a nurse, stage 4 kidney disease requires dialysis. They may not be able to resume chemo until dialysis is begun.

Re: Insurance question: Are colonoscopies considered preventative?

I have to pay towards my deductible for mine. Most insurance don’t consider preventive once you have been diagnosed with cancer. It’s considered follow up.

Re: I'm getting worried

I get yearly colonoscopies. I’ve had several gi doctors as we have moved a lot in the last 10 years. I always get my pathology reports by mail. It’s pretty common to send it by mail if it’s benign. I wouldn’t worry. They would have called if there was a malignancy.

Re: Rogaine! seems to be working for me

I used rogaine for a few months. It works great but you do have to keep using it. When I stopped, my hair loss was more than before I had started using it. I’m now on a hair supplement called halo beauty. I’ve had amazing results with regrowth. My hair grows faster than ever before. It took a year t...
