Re: Five years....and lung nodule

Thanks for all the kind replies. Right now, the plan is to start with the biopsy and see where we are at. I assume a PET scan would follow a positive result. I did have a PET scan 5 years ago with no uptake from the couple nodules I have. My biggest worry is that the growth over the last year or two...

Re: Five years....and lung nodule

Actually, now that I've made the mistake of reading about nodule growth, I'm really scared.

Re: Folfox.. ugh

I don't have any advice, other than to continue working with your oncologist to find the right compromises. It is likely things will improve with some tweaks. I can empathize. Chemo is just a misery. I didn't throw up much, but it was a challenge balancing anti-nausea meds against the terrible anxie...

Five years....and lung nodule

I had my 5 year follow-up with my oncologist today. My treatment was by the book, with most everything going the way you hope. Surgery went well. Got through chemo. I have some of the usual side effects of the process. Bowel issues, occasional chemo-head. I've also had a few nodules in my lungs ther...

Re: How bad would it be to quit oxaliplatin?

Hi Mary, I'm sorry you are having a rough time with your treatment. I had Folfox, and also found the first treatment to be especially bad. Could your breathlessness and fear be anxiety? My first run, my anxiety was unbearable. They gave me a prescription for it, which I dropped off at the pharmacist...

Re: Having my first flexible sigmoidoscopy - scared! Advice?

I've had several of these, never with sedation. They are a bit uncomfortable and a little painful, but really are no big deal. The worry over your symptoms is worse, and hopefully this will get you some answers.

Re: Processed meats and Red meat - WHO Warning

The media does not do a good job of reporting when it comes to science. Here are some things relavent to this discussion. The WHO has warned about the cancer risk of processed meats and red meat for years. It is just that in their latest review of the science, they can not make some definitive state...

Re: Stupid question about cancer terminology

The original question is not stupid. I think a lot of us struggle with it. Here is a stupid question. When those of you who say you are NED actually say "NED" do you say "N. E. D." or "Ned", like the name? And do you find if helpful, given that most people won't know wh...

Re: Did you get 2nd opinion?

In my opinion, getting a second opinion, especially for surgery, is prudent. As nice and competent as your doctor seems, s/he may be totally off base in his/her assessment. No doctor should be offended. It happens all the time. They know this is a big, scary decision. Many will encourage patients to...

Re: i'm newly diagnosed....... HELP !

Three years ago I wrote a very similar post and got the same advice you are hearing. It is good advice. The stats you are seeing are outdated. More importantly, they are not broken down to the level where you can see statistics about people like you, with your history, general health, etc. I am sorr...

Re: Anyone doing the Gerson Therapy?

Certainly anyone has every right to do whatever they want to fight this horrible disease. But I also think that we have an obligation to provide accurate information in forums like these, and to call out scams when we see them. The Gerson people have been operating for decades without being able to ...

Re: Anyone doing the Gerson Therapy?

In our experience we haven't found traditional medicine as being all that "effective" for stage IV. It is effective in that it increases a person's chance of survival and increased the average lifespan of those who use it. Gerson Therapy just scams desperate people out of their money. The...
