Re: How long until you see light at the end of the tunnel?

I know everyone's experience is very different with Chemo. But I want to offer you a little hope....I am on my 6th treatment of FolFox (just disconnected my pump) and I found the first two treatments hit me the hardest. I have been doing pretty well since about the 4th treatment and am feeling bette...

Re: Chance for long-term NED for stage IV with chemo alone?

Chances may be low but it is quite possible. See Bob Ramey's story (Chemo only) on the Colon Cancer podcast http://thecoloncancerpodcast.com/2016lybl008/ There are a few a few others on this board that if you search you may find. Also - there are those that when they had surgery after Chemo their tu...

Re: How to talk to oncologist in Canada about 2nd opinion

Go ahead with the second opinion but fire the Oncologist if it's even a question if you should tell him. My experience has been in BC but I can tell you there are some doctors I would refuse to see and your dads Onc may be in that category. I've met with 4 oncologists out here - 1 was a complete ass...

Re: All clear? Or not?

Hi Beth, I'm in BC and had to really push for a PET scan (long story) which was in Vancouver (I live in the LMD so no travel involved)... It was vital as it revealed I was stage 4 with extensive distant lymph node mets which significantly changed my treatment plan. For you I think it is likely that,...

Re: No more scans, feeling scared

Hi Dorat, I just want to point out that as you are IIIC with great scans so far the odds are your cancer will not return, so I wouldn't worry to much about the small sample of doom and gloom stories that are represented on this board (remember the people who are long term NED or cured are far less l...

Re: Hi ... again

Just to chime In as a fellow Canadian regarding the pet scan. They seem to be very reluctant here in BC to do PET scans. I only got one originally as I pushed my non cancer agency surgeon and he is a nice guy (also I think he feels some guilt for my condition but that's another story). It was only t...

Re: One month NED. Now back to the fight again.

My understanding is that Avastin prevents tumors from growing new blood vessels. For even a tiny group of cancer cells to grow they need to form blood supply....even if these cells are not visible to scans.

Re: TIL Immunotherapy - other sites?

Tim. Great to hear you are still on the trial. I don't know if the TIL trial will ever become widespread as there doesn't yet seem to be an angle for profit and it's very costly. I worry that governments may not even continue funding them as the cost benefit per patient at their vantage point would ...

Re: TIL Immunotherapy - other sites?

I seem to recall a modified version of the TIL for specific Tumour types in Toronto Canada. Not sure if it meets your criteria but as the Tumour has to be specific.

https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT02869217

Any update on your current trial Tim ?

Re: Trial drug - Selinixor (KPT 330)

Hey Ram. TAS-102 I believe is Lonsurf. I don't have experience with it but there is evidence it holds some people stable. If you can't find a trial - There is an AIDS drug called Maraviroc that you may also want to consider getting. Google Tom's Terminally Optomistic blog where he describes a phase ...

Re: Extramural vascular invasion - significance for stage IV

I don't think it has been studied much in stage IV as it doesn't impact treatment. From my reading it seems once cancer is stage 4 it has shown its ability to spread mets and the local pathology becomes less important. Some poor prognostic factors such as more aggressive cancer like grade 3 at stage...

Re: Stage IV lymph node question

Sorry about the stress this is causing you. An enlarged lymph node can happen for reasons other than cancer and this may well be something else. That being said you should push to get whatever information you need to a) get peace of mind or b) move forward with treatment if required. Personally I wo...

Re: My Stivarga streak has ended

Hey Janie,

I might have missed it in your posts but are you getting Avastin (Bevicuzimab)? Or if you are KRAS wild Erbitux ?

You probably are but if not ask your Oncologist
