DH is back in the hospital :(

So yesterday my husband's oncologist told us that he should head to the ER because he was not passing gas or stool . . . my husband also hasn't really been eating much over the past few days . . . of course they admitted him, and I can't visit at all . . . it's a real struggle for me, because I'm al...

Re: very rough day post Folfiri + Avastin

Yes, thank you all for your responses . . . unfortunately I had to drop my husband off at the ER today . . . he hasn't really been able to eat, and he isn't passing gas or stool . . . his doctor told him to get to the ER . . . I couldn't go in with him and I'm nervous that he will be admitted and I ...

Re: very rough day post Folfiri + Avastin

Wow Lovelife! That is crazy!! Yes, this is the first time in 3 years that my husband has had such an intense reaction to any drug . . . he's about to have a little soup (first food since Thursday) . . . I'm wondering what his bloodwork will be like in 2 weeks . . . thank you for your input . . . how...

Re: very rough day post Folfiri + Avastin

Thank you Tater! I was thinking that too . . . maybe his body was just reacting to drugs he hasn't had before, or maybe his body had been through so much at this point that it was just too much (?) Well, the good news is he woke up this morning feeling a bit better . . . he wasn't even really talkin...

very rough day post Folfiri + Avastin

Hey everyone . . . my husband has been on several different chemo regiments for stage 4 colon cancer but I've never seen him as sick and worn down as he is today (treatment was on Thursday) . . . has anyone else had an intense reaction to Folfiri + Avastin? He hasn't eaten all day . . . could barely...

Re: Is this really colitis, or something else??

So my husband was indeed in acute kidney failure  . . . thankfully they didn't have to send him through the ER, but were able to bring him into the hospital through a less crowded / less infected section. They placed tubes in his kidneys which are draining into 2 separate bags. He said that h...

Re: Is it possible for someone to develop Crohn's

How is he feeling after the surgery? . . . I think it's great that he is getting a second opinion. I know that people always tell us to stay away from Dr. Google, but it's so hard not to research . . . and I learn a lot of valuable info while I'm reading online . . . I guess the trick is to not alwa...

Re: Is it possible for someone to develop Crohn's

I don't know the answer to your question, but I'm wondering what meds they put him on . . . is it antibiotics? They just put my husband on 2 different antibiotics for what they think is colitis (based off of a CT scan) . . . What are they saying about the fluid outside of the abdomen? Does it need t...

Re: Is this really colitis, or something else??

Yes, he has been on all of the drugs that make up Folfiri (I believe) but not together, and never combined with Avastin . . . They tried Avastin (with Folfox) back in 2017, but he only had 1 dose because it caused major issues with a fistula that we thought was healed (but ended up taking forever to...

Re: Is this really colitis, or something else??

Thank you Claudine . . . he is with his doctors right now . . . they ran some bloodwork and discovered that his kidney numbers are through the roof . . . they think one of his affected nodes has shifted and is now pushing against his stent and impacting his kidney(s) . . . he needs to have some type...

Is this really colitis, or something else??

Hey everyone . . . I just wanted to check in regarding my husband's recent colitis diagnosis . . . Last week (Wednesday) he had a CT scan to see why he was bloated and cramping (and he vomited at least 1 or 2 times). The diagnosis was colitis and they prescribed 2 different antibiotics (flagyl and c...
