Re: Now stage 4

Hey Delinda, sorry you're back in the trenches but glad you pulled through your operation well.
Dumb question here - because the new cancer was in the colon, why is it stage 4? I always thought it had to be distal ie organ spread.
Wishing you strength for the treatment ahead! :)

Re: Young with colorectal cancer?

I have a quick question about the symptoms... Do they seem to come and go, like maybe a couple days of relief; or is it constant symptoms every day? Some of mine definitely persist day to day, but others give me a couple of days of relief and then come right back. There are no rules about colon can...

Re: T3cN2a, refusing chemotherapy?

I just got the results of my last scans. Everything looks good. So it seems my strategy of only four rounds xeloda, no oxaliplatin and no radiation paid off. No more follow ups. The hospital considers me cured. Only colonoscopies every five years. Now I am almost down to the same cancer risk as the...

Re: Adenomas every time - 32 yrs old

I'm not too clued up on polyp types, but I have SPS; serrated polyposis syndrome. When I was diagnosed 3 years ago, my colon was riddled with over a dozen polyps - one of them huge full-blown cancer.

Re: CEA rise; partial blockage mostly resolved

Hi. My mum has had a couple on and off over the last seven years. It takes the best part of a week to settle then normal service resumes. We think its adhesions and several factors colliding together . She has to be very careful with tight clothing when travelling , dehydration and eating too late....

It's your decision. Your onc's comments about americans not absorbing it so well sounds extremely weird to me!

Re: HELP please...Question for those that have had hernia surgery

Hi tammy, I had a huge hernia repair with groin - sternum incision and mesh with 4 x anchors in a diamond configuration. While I had periods of tweaking pain for months, I certainly did not have "new" pain anywhere near level 9. I would go demand they examine you asap. Perhaps an anchor ha...

Re: CEA rise Update: potential blockage

Hi All, Excuse the late update; I had some serious pain issues last week and the tramadol made me very sleepy and spaced out. Anyway, the problem seems to have 90% resolved itself now. My team believe it was scar tissue causing blockage in the small intestine, of which I had approximately 50% resect...

Re: CEA rise opinion

GP said definitely not appendix, which actually disappointed me as that's a harmless thing to deal with. He said it's some kind of small intestine inflammation / partial blockage. I didn't think I was constipated, but I guess my movements have been firmer and less frequent lately. If that counts? I ...

Re: CEA rise opinion

NZ, I'm sorry to hear you're still having pain. Do you still have your appendix? If you push in on the spot it hurts, does it hurt more when you release pushing? Just a thought. Hoping you feel better soon. Bev Thanks Bev :) . I do still have my appendix in. I googled just now and did the little te...

While I did not interact extensively with your mother, I once read through her post history because I found the way she wrote insightful and beautiful. I have no doubt she was an incredible person.

My deepest sympathies and I wish you strength in your time of grief.

Re: CEA rise opinion

Thanks for all the supportive replies; my CEA stress has dropped a little and I'll persevere for my mid-May 3-monthly. I am however continuing to struggle with this pain, but it's only been slightly under 2 weeks so not quite long enough to bother my team about. Started as a fairly high-grade pain f...
