Re: HAI pump

Kathy,

Mine has been in since Feb 2009 and still feels tight. I am having it removed in the next couple of months. I am sorry I am not more helpful but I just wanted to congratulate you on your 6 years NED. So happy for you!

Katie is such a beautiful bride. How proud you and your wife must be of her resilience and fortitude. You have a loving and beautiful family.

Re: At home with hospice

Kathleen, Your posts through these years have been so full of love and graciousness. I always click on them to read the thoughtful things you write. Your love for and with Dick have been so inspiring to me. I am so sorry that you are facing this. Your post brought me to tears. I am so saddened for y...

Re: CEA Trending Up

Jane, Sorry you are feeling anxiety. It is more important to look at a trend but even then, it may not mean anything at all. I posted below all of my CEA results from the past 5 1/2 years. I stopped chemo in November 2009. Last time I spoke to Dr. K she did mention that CEAs were all coming back hig...

Re: Avastin with HAI pump?

Lara, I have learned that there is no black/white answer when it comes to cancer treatment. A friend of mine had an HAI pump and did do a series of Avastin after the pump was placed. After my surgery to place the pump I asked if Avastin would be used and my doctor said there was no study showing eff...

Re: Hello From NJ

Chixter, Your post really struck a chord with me. I am also from NJ, spent 10 days in Myrtle Beach in mid-May and also have a daughter named Katie. I was diagnosed in November 2008 with Stage IV colon cancer (5 bilobar liver mets). At the time of my diagnosis the first oncologist I met with (at Morr...

Shade,

Over 5 years from my liver resection and I have been in remission during that whole time. Longevity is possible.

Best of luck,

Re: MSK 'Concierge' gentleman

Jaynee, It's funny because I didn't even have to look at the video before knowing who you were talking about. Nick is so sweet and while I have never received a hug I have always received a smile. Most of the staff at Dr. Kemeny's office are warm and welcoming as well. I was always amazed that after...

Re: HAI pump

Maddielolo, I know individuals who did chemotherapy (and perhaps did not get the shrinkage necessary for resection) prior to electing to do HAI. I am not familiar with anyone going directly from diagnosis to the HAI pump without doing at least a set of treatments. In my own case I had 4 chemo treatm...

Re: BCBS refused PET scan. Tell me about MRI

Diane, Only have had 1 PET scan in all these years and that was ordered by the first consult we saw. I have never had a PET ordered by my doctor at MSK. She prefers CT scans. CTs are pretty easy at MSK. One drinks a gatorade-like drink for an hour and then the actual scan is done in about 8 minutes....

Re: Number of Hai treatments

Julie, My enzymes got high the longer I went through treatment. I had 6 HAI treatments in total. This was the number she told me and the number I completed. I believe we held up my fast 5FU treatment. I had treatments from March 2009 through the beginning of November 2009. It took a bit longer as I ...
