I have similar concerns with you before, but my mum take a month rest in Feb for traveling and her CEA was within the normal range still. Now she is having her 2 month break due to Folfox Allergy. Skipping one or two cycles won't hurt.
So sorry to hear your news. My mum has similar experience that cancer sometimes has no signs. She is having her chemo break now. Xeloda was not working on my mum after surgery, mets to lungs discovered for increasing CEA. I rely hope you respond well to the treatment plan and get well rely soon. It'...
Hi Brenda. My mum is not NED as she has multiple lung nodules that are inoperable. She is a NRAS mutant. Our onco also told us that there are no more drugs to use after folfiri, which made us very worried as well. I wonder how you know that you are not suitable with Keytruda as its result seems prom...
Hi all. My mum has just started her 10 rounds of Folfox today but having allergic response that her throat enlarged. Onco said this is a very serious side effect that Folfox is no longer an option for her. The onco gives us a chemo break for 2 months as my mum's CEA is doing good (plz refer to my si...
So sorry to hear your story. My mum is a current stage4 patient with lung mets. We do remember how hard and bitter for us to swallow the fact. I hope folfox is helping you so that the spots in your liver shrink. There are lots of members here had liver mets but able to have surgery finally. Hope you...
So sorry to hear your news, but it seems that your chemo is doing the right job. I guess it would be best to keep going with the chemo plan and hope everything will keep on shrinking and you can try surgery eventually. Until then just stay with chemo. You can change the drugs if you have serious sid...
My mum has tried xeloda pills but there is no use. I guess it's usefulness depends. We do have another chemo plan called xelox but I forgot if there is oxalipatin. The doc used to tell us that injection of drugs is more direct than pills so I guess you can ask for nore options. As for reourrence, I ...
My mum didn't as her CEA has not go down after surgery and 2 rounds of xeloda. Onco assume there are mets in her lungs as nodules grew. Hope this help.
...suspect the combination of drugs in HK is a bit different compare to US, but we will see how it goes. Some drug regimens are pretty standard, the different combinations are what you choose instead of merely accept. You also have the tegafur drug, TS-1, and maybe UFT (tegafur uracil) that aren't ...
Given the economics, frequent longevity, and improved QOL, I would look into ADAPT style protocols for mCRC - capecitabine (or UFT-LV) + celecoxib; with the easy adjuncts like PSK, EGCG, quercetin and curcumin. There are lots of others that can be additive and that we have used with a low total cos...
This was always the hardest part for me, the unknown what does every little test mean. My mom's CEA would fluctuate up and down a little and when there was no real change, but the times there were growth or spreading we saw large jumps in her numbers. Everybody is different in how much CEA is even ...
Hello. My mum has been treating with Folfox with Avastin since Aug last year as there are multiple nodules in her lungs after surgery. Her CEA has been steady since the use of Folfox and Avastin though the nodules do not go away. Last week we took her to a trip to Japan (we live in HK). To prepare t...
My mum has been using Folfox and Avastin after discovering her mets in lungs. She is doing well so far, and the 8th round has been finished. Her did developed some neuropathy side effects like numbness of her arms but the effects are reversible. Side effects are obvious in the first week after chemo...
HI. My mum is having chemo every 2 weeks started from August-2017 as her CEA did not go down after surgery. She is now undergoing Folfox with Avastin as her lung mets are inoperable. So far the result seems ok coz her CEA dropped back to normal. We manage to travel with her in mid-Feb. The problem i...
I am so sorry to hear the news about your mum. Look at my signature and you will find me having similar experience with you except my mum's met seems more controllable. She is also doing Folfox with Avastin and told to be inoperable. My nurse friend did what your first onco did but I see my mum is d...
