Re: Lynch syndrome

Hi Kim, I am also currently awaiting my results for Lynch Syndrome. My Gramps had colon cancer at age 79/80 - not sure if he had problems prior to that so they are checking my biopsied cells for Lynch Syndrome as 30 is "too young for colon cancer". They told me it would take a month or so ...

Re: It has Begun

Best of luck with your scan tomorrow..praying that you can have a celebratory drink at the wedding! I am starting to have "premature" scanxiety with my 1st CT scan (since starting chemo) next Thursday and then should get my results the next Tuesday when I see my onc...going to need alot of...

Re: CEA number- Extreme Edition!

Thank you for the replies- I am definitely looking forward to seeing that number drop into single digits but as mentioned the best indicator would be the scans. Last night I had a little trouble sleeping as my CEA number kept flying around my head and made me invision all 2131 "toxic" prot...

CEA number- Extreme Edition!

After reading many of the posts on here and learning what is what and what questions to ask, I asked my Onc what my CEA number was at my treatment today- he said that when I was dx in May my CEA number was 2131!!! I did some research and from what I can understand is that the way they "score&qu...

Re: FOLFIRI Advice?

I am relatively new to FOLFIRI with Avastin (5FU pump infusion over 46 hours) and have only done 3 treatments thus far and have had very few and very mild side effects. I have found myself a little more tired 3 days after my pump comes off and have had a few mouth sores start to develop- but nothing...

Re: Chemo Postponded

I was very disappointed to have my 2nd chemo treatment postponed by a week due to low WBC- I think mine were 0.2? Strange thing is I was feeling great and "studied" really hard for my blood test eating lots of protein, iron and all the other good stuff. My Onc says that some people may tak...

Waiting for the shoe to drop....

So I have just completed round #3 of 12 of FOLFIRI, with avastin and am feeling great! I keep waking up every morning waiting to feel for side effects from the treatment but apart from an occasional strange/ almost heavy taste in my mouth and thinning hair I feel relatively "normal". (if y...

Re: may 2010 weight loss/exercise thread

Okay so you have all inspired me to get my bony butt off the couch and head out to the gym...oh and dust off my bike and head out on the trails (need a soft seat though)! At the moment I weigh 104/105 lbs and am 5'6...so skinny minny is me! At least my 6 pack will show easier than before :D Now if y...

Re: Another Newbie here

Oops it seems I got a little excited and posted a similar reply twice- we'll chalk that up to temporary chemo memory loss (I've been using "baby brain" for the past 1 1/2 years so am glad to have a new excuse) Thanks SkiFletch for the encouragement. Will go and check out the local gym tomo...

Re: Another Newbie here

Thank you for the warm welcome! I am really glad I found this club as I found it quite lonely in cyberspace, when my Dr. told me it is very unusual for someone "my age" to have colon cancer I never thought I would find a club specific to young people who have colon cancer! It seems an unfo...

Re: Another Newbie here

Thanks for the warm welcome- like most others I am not happy to be in the club but happy to have found THIS club. Everywhere I looked online was "scary" stuff about CRC and support groups for breast cancer etc. could not find much that was specific to me. The Onc is not too worried about t...

Another Newbie here

I am 30/31 years old with a VERY Busy (just learning to walk) 1 year old son and was diagnosed on the 29th April with stage iv cc cancer with numerous mets on my liver. I never really had any symptoms- or symptoms that could not be explained away by other things (body still recovering from pregnancy...
