Re: New Member here on the forum

FOlfox is the infusion 5FU- plus the Oxi. CAPEOX or XELOX is supposed to be tolerated well - but some people more likely to have some kind of gut problems ... they say gut problems more associated with the pill - makes sense. The pain is independent of feeding schedule - I tend to graze all day to k...

Re: The Miseries - But 'Hey I have it pretty good...'

Steve, this radiation neoadjuvant phase is the most difficult, I believe, for all the reasons you have so colorfully and accurately described. Are you walking much? It's a decent way to keep the guts awake and working ... hydration also help .... congrats on making it around this corner!

Re: New Member here on the forum

Thanks for the thoughts Mike and Claudia - you two are such amazing and inspirational warriors. Onc said he would be happy with five rounds, have completed four (short capecetibine on the fourth.) Doc and I agreed together that a case could be made for wait and watch, but neither of us were comforta...

Re: New Member here on the forum

Okay wise people, help me out. Here's the deal: I cannot handle the capecetibine. The neoadjuvant chemo rad was tough enough with the radiation, but I had weeks of severe diarrhea as well - have already had one cycle of the CAPOX delayed by one week due to uncontrollable diarrhea/pain - ended up tak...

Re: New Member here on the forum

Susan if you have time, could you PM the dispensary you are using? I am getting mixed reviews on the Calaveras Co outfits ... the Zofran is not as effective as it was earlier, and I have Compazine, but the side effects are more pronounced. We are leaving in the morning, but back Sunday, so I should ...

Re: New Member here on the forum

The CBD helped the nausea but the lump is still in my chest. Feels like When you swallow air but big time. I called oncologist to see about a reduction but am afraid even a small change will reduce my possibility of a cure. S This is my concern as well ... however my oncologist explained that the r...

Re: New Member here on the forum

Susan, the oncologist reduced the Xeloda by 20% after round 2 due to profound diarrhea - a replay of the neoadjuvant treatment. CapeOx Round 2 gut was in terrible pain due to the spasms. I don't have an ileostomy so no basis for comparison, but wondering if your gut pains are similar? The oncology n...

Re: New member with Xeloda question for Stage II

The dose is dependent upon body surface area (meters squared) computed with a formula using height and weight. I was just reading about this this morning. Will try to find the formula for you. My oncologist has reduced me from 2500 daily down to 2000 daily due to gut problems (profound diarrhea.) So...

Re: New Member here on the forum

I think the panic actually did make things worse - no problems yesterday though - doc reduced Oxi by 20% and made a world of difference. I was also calmer and prepared to NOT panic no matter what. Did get the speech defect (lateral 'S' lisp) yesterday and some numbing in the lips today - this is new...

Re: Mop up chemo experiences

I had breathing problems from talking - at room temperature. Had to bail out of social situations or shut down a phone convo. Just not talking helped - also hands over mouth and breathing warmed air this way seems to help. Some folks wear a mask - was considering a Vog https://www.vogmask.com

Re: New Member here on the forum

Hi Susan - feeling great - have been able to do some gardening and getting out. Side effects have pretty much dissipated although diarrhea is still present it's minor. Next infusion and cycle start is Thursday May 10 - my big enemy is the AC and cold toilet seat in the infusion clinic bathroom - it ...

Re: Mop up chemo experiences

Thinking about you up there in Oxi-side-effects-land! Hoping these next few days pass quickly - just as we learn how to stay on top of one issue or side effect, another new one pops up!
