Re: To all, old and new

Nik, I have been on here for 1 year now and I don't give a rats ass about being PC correct. I like you for telling it like it is. We all have one thing in common on this forum and that is colon cancer! We all try to help each other in any way we can. I was fortunate enough to have caught mine in the...

Re: CEA is a stupid test

My cea has always been <0.5 even when I had my cancer. I asked my surgeon about this and his answer was not all tumors produce cea levels. He said in my case if my levels increase even in the "safe" range he would go over me with a fine tooth comb, because my levels have been consistent th...

Re: Living without a rectum

I use a probiotic daily along with Metamucil . My GI doctor told me to use align. It is a P&G product that only contains one good bacteria. He only recommended that particular brand. He said the other ones contained several different kinds of bacteria not all of which are good for you . It has w...

Re: 1 year cancerversary

Tarheelmom, It has been surprisingly good and I do have days when I go frequently. On average I go around 3x a day. Usually after I eat a meal. On the off days I can go 5x times in an hour. Fortunately these are rare and I can usually tell when they are on the horizon. All in all I can not complain.

Re: How long post surgery back to normal?

I also had rectal cancer and mine was about 6 inches in. I am not sure if you had a leak test before your reversal. Since the colon isn't being used the reconnection tends to shrink. With mine they found a stricture where they reconnected me. Have you done this procedure? You could have a narrowed s...

Scans and findings?

Hey everyone. I am one year removed from my rectal cancer and have had good scans . The thing that bothers me is I have both a lung module that is 2 to 3 mm and a liver cyst that is a couple of mm as well. Both showed no hyperbolic activity on a pet scan and both have remained stable ever since diag...

Re: 1 week removed from rectal cancer surgery

Mael, sorry to hear you are having anxiety. I am not sure what is taking so long to get your pathology report. I had mine in two days while I was in the hospital recovering from laparoscopic Rectal cancer. I was in hospital for a week since my intestines wouldn't wake up. So I would say no news is g...

Re: Broken hearted

Thank you everyone for all of your caring and support. I would have responded sooner, but I have been busy planning the funeral and helping my parents through this ordeal. Thank you Maggie Nell you made me laugh. I needed that . I know it wasn't my fault I just wished I would have done more. Thank y...

Broken hearted

I had stage 1 colon cancer about a year ago. As of my last checkup 2 weeks ago everything is going well. On Saturday I lost my brother to congestive heart failure. He was not only my brother, but my best friend. What saddens me the most is he had edema in his abdomen and legs and didn't go to the ER ...
