Re: HIPEC and Liver resection next Tuesday!

HIPEC is a beast for most people, myself included. I'm doing great now, years later, but I do remember that recovery was TOUGH. My best recommendation is for you both to be mentally prepared that the recovery is a REAL marathon. It takes a full month before even daily activities are possible, and at...

Re: If you have liver and lung metastasis can you still be o

Re: Chemo after HIPEC

I had no chemo following my HIPEC. Still here 4 years after that with no recurrence... Remember, systemic chemo is not very good at reaching peritoneal metastases, therefore it's use is dubious at best, resistance or no.

Re: Clinical Trial Diary

Wow, lots of running around Ray. Thanks for doing all this in the name of research man. It's a big deal. With the low iron thing, I've spouted it before, but try the eggs (with yolk) and OJ trick. Egg yolks have some of the most absorbable iron in them and the citrus and vit c from the OJ help incre...

Re: Scan result

Here's what we did for my Stage IV diagnosis. 1st year - 3 month 2nd and 3rd year - 4 months 4th year - 6 months Assuming I make it one more clean scan, will go to 12 months after this next one. This is with none of my scans showing progression. Not all have been clear-cut, but any "thing"...

Re: Sick Again - Immune System Question

Remember what you're actually reading at the time you read it. If you have active infection, your WBC should spike to above normal range. Total counts usually go well above 5, even to 10+. If you have an active infection and are still in the normal range for total count, you're below what should be ...

Re: The Plus Side to Neuropathy?

Oh yes, my experience was almost identical to yours. No Neuropathy at all till Tx 9, then BAM. Came on hard, fast, and didn't go away between treatments. So we dropped Oxali for my last few. I too had the foot numbness and used it to my advantage climbing a couple High Peaks in the Adirondacks. Did ...

Re: Tagamet Question

A few folks around here used it, though it's not all that common. I had it with infusions because I was allergic to Oxaliplatin and Tagamet is a Histamine H2 blocker which may have helped me prevent allergic response to Oxali (along with Benadryl)
