Re: O/T Garden Update

Will post pics as soon as I can, but I will gloat a bit and tell you that because of living in the southland, I have already harvested. Had squash blossom soup, sautéed zucchini, a cucumber and tomato salad. Yum!!! Soon I will be offering to mail zucchini, yellow squash and cucumbers to anyone who w...

Re: Things I miss...

Richard, been there too. Still there sometimes. All I can say that *may* help is that I eventually redefined my life and my 'self' in a way that doesn't continually rub up against the sucknitude of advanced cancer. I ruefully grin when I think of how much time I spent meditating, pre-kidnapping, try...

I love The Onion. So many of the cliches rang so true! What a great story.

Re: To do what the docs suggest, or not?

Hi Sophy dear. My pain control has gotten considerably easier because, for some unknown reason, the pain has pretty much disappeared. So I don't know what caused it a couple of years ago, I don't know why it waxed and waned, and I don't know why I am getting a break. But, of course, I'll take it wit...

Re: To HIPEC or NOT TO HIPEC.

I'm still here with you, Cherie! :) So, if the surgeon wants to do HIPEC, that's something. At least it seems promising that s/he isn't having to be begged. Is this surgeon experienced with the procedure, as in: is it likely then it has decent odds of a cure? If so, it'd be hard to do it but harder ...

Re: To do what the docs suggest, or not?

Vicki, thank you so much for your wonderfully caring response. You have such a good handle on all the issues, scientific and emotional. I feel like I have a badass wife in my corner now, too! :D
Love you and hope your memories of your wonderful Mike are helping you through. <3

Re: PTSD, agoraphobia, CRC & me

Ms. m.d.phoebe, I have to tell you that you are the best writer to come down the pike in a long time. I think I could have read all night... But to the real goods, I am sorry you are here, I am sorry you have more than the usual boatload of stuff. I couldn't quite follow, are you saying that you are...

Re: 3 Years & Nervous

Jean, dear friend, of course this IS a time of high anxiety! And we want to be here to support you through. (((supporting Jean))) I think the hardest time I had was when I was NED and waiting for potential bad news. It's just hard, hard, hard. And weird body stuff can only make it worse. I don't kno...

Re: To do what the docs suggest, or not?

UPDATE: After a careful reading of my latest CT report, it seems one of the most disturbing pieces of news for me recently, which led me to discontinue iri+erbi, was a false positive (docs didn't bother to mention this--when I asked, I got a squishy answer as if I were angling to cause trouble abou...

Re: To do what the docs suggest, or not?

Thanks, Maia, for just being you! And resurrecting this thread let me read all the caring and wise responses again, which was good. Pukalania, how great that you got TAS-102 on a compassionate use status! Please let us know how it goes. I'll PM. UPDATE: After a careful reading of my latest CT report...

Re: From FOLFOX to FOLFIRI

Nikki, folfiri was harder for me than folfox due to nausea; diarrhea wasn't a problem. Hair usually thins but doesn't come out completely. The best advice I can give you is to remember that you are going for a CURE and this misery is temporary. Be strong and don't worry about what you can't fix!

So sad to read this. Ray was another of the "old guard" around here and I am mourning the loss of so many of us. He loved life so much. RIP, Ray.
