Re: COVID-19 vaccine thoughts/concerns

From what I have been hearing, the 1st shot is okay, it is the 2nd shot that could knock you down. With the 2nd shot, plan to take a day or two off from work. For about 24 up to 36 hrs, it could hit you hard. High fever, headache, chills, etc. Butt after that you should be okay. And not all people h...

Re: Colovesical fistula (CVF) aka bladder to bowel fistua

Do you have a diagnoses or a speculation? The reason I ask, last fall I was 99% sure I had bladder cancer, passing a few drops of blood when power walking. Urine test confirmed blood, sent off to Urologist. Come to find out, bladder is fine, butt they did see something on my left kidney. That turns ...

Re: Colonoscopy FYI

WOW I got scoped about a week or two prior to our country's shut down back in March. Guess I'm glad it is behind me now 8) . I did get a call back a few days after my scope regarding how was I feeling, etc & that I would be getting a letter in a few weeks with result & when I should be scope...

Re: Single Mom, Newly Diagnosed, Need Support

My view is that this is a large sessile polyp that was too large to be removed by polypectomy during the recent colonoscopy, so it needs to be removed by some other means. It needs to be removed because it is tubulovillous architecture and therefore a pre-cancerous polyp. . Thank you, now I underst...

Re: COVID-19 vaccine thoughts/concerns

I want the vaccine, the sooner the better. When I finished chemo, my Onc told me my immune system will always be compromised. Herman Cain was an colon cancer survivor, when he got the virus, he did not survive it. I suspect his immune system was compromised just like mine is. My PCP, while they don'...

Re: Single Mom, Newly Diagnosed, Need Support

Thanks for the bump and responses. I was beginning to feel like there was no support here to be found. Or maybe I was too lengthy in my post? I am in the US, in PA. I started out with the local medical institution and my second opinion was through Hershey (whom I am now working with). They finally ...

Re: Single Mom, Newly Diagnosed, Need Support

Sorry, I presumed you had cancer. I am not completely versed with medical terminology. My apologies, please forgive me. I am still assuming it is cancer (I am not an MD). What has got me, no game plan. It seem like they are all over the place on how to remove this mass. They are all over the place ...

Re: Single Mom, Newly Diagnosed, Need Support

Okay, where are you?? USA or some other country?

If in USA, again where are you? My advice, a 2nd opinion at a major cancer research/cancer hospital.

Know there is hope.

Re: Surgeon Recs for colovesical fistula with radiated tissue

Badass,

I would recommend PM him personally. After 2 yrs, this person is not on this forum anymore. If you PM this person, he should get some type of personal message in his email to check this forum for a message.

Good luck.

Re: 30 and scared

I agree with roadrunner & utalgal7 especially at your age. Very rare at your age, unless colon cancer runs in your family. Is there a family member you could ask about prior relatives with a cancer history? Around here, Arizona, 3 months just to see the GI doc especially for that 1st visit is no...

Re: Stage 3, likelihood of recurrence after resection & chemotherapy

. . . Recommended to have 6 months of CAPOX as adjuvant chemotherapy to mop up any cells that may have escaped. 3 months would've been chosen if it was less than 3 lymph nodes involved - however Oncologist is open to discussion after 3m whether to stop Oxilaplatin (if the side effects are too diffi...

Re: Does anyone have experience Jane McLelland and starving cancer?

I don't have any experience with any diet that starves cancer but I do have experience with a fasting-mimicking diet during chemo. The idea is not to starve the cancer, the idea is to put your normal cells into a protection mode because they think there's a famine so they sort of shut down. Cancer ...

Re: Does anyone have experience Jane McLelland and starving cancer?

I am not familiar With Jane McLelland, butt a few years back, some people around here were eating very few calories a day or two prior to infusion. Theory was stare the cancer cell, chemo was more effective in attacking cancer cells with less side affect to you. Not sure if this is what you are talk...

Re: Port Out...for now

I would ask the Onc about flushing it. I was suppose to get my flushed every 4-6 weeks. You could push to 8 weeks in emergency situation. When nurse could not access it after mamo, I saw my Onc next & that is when I learned they were taking it out. It had been inside of me about 3 yrs. Onc assur...
