Re: I feel like I am in the Twilight Zone....HIPEC

I think you may actually be in a pretty decent place, as crazy as that may sound. The fact that you only had one spot in the liver and that it is still clear is awesome, and the rest seems like it might be very amenable to getting removed piecemeal through surgery. My doctor said that these seeding ...

Re: I feel like I am in the Twilight Zone....HIPEC

I have had several mets via seeding...a few on the peritoneum, some in the small intestine, in others parts of the colon near the primary, and on the uterus. I had all of these removed through surgery (chemo did not work for me at all). I did use cimetidine for my last of five surgeries, as it may h...

Re: Religion on the forum? Your thoughts?

Well, like most online discussions, this is probably relatively pointless, but I would like to add that we live in a country that is made up of a majority of Christians. And when you add in other religions, you get to a very large majority indeed in the camp of those who hold religious beliefs. The ...

Re: Religion on the forum? Your thoughts?

it's funny. Reading though this thread I am left with the impression that in order for us all to "get along", people who are not religious are supposed to simply be quiet and accept all religious sentiments sent their way. Why would it not also help "getting along" if religious f...

Re: Please help! Peri mets ?

How extensive are the liver mets? Is there any chance that they could remove everything at one time? In one of my surgeries, they took out the peri mets, a mass of tumor entangling the small intestine, and another spot that had popped up in the area of the primary in the colon, so it was pretty majo...

Re: Please help! Peri mets ?

I had several mets to the peritoneum. From what I've been told, chemo is not usually very effective, although I believe HIPEC can work on them. I had mine removed in regular surgery, and they didn't return. I've been NED for 3 1/2 years.

Re: How did you find out about CRC?

I had no GI symptoms at all, only daily fevers, severe anemia, wonky WBC, and massive weight loss. I was mis-diagnosed with lupus for 6 months before a perforated colon sent me to ER and an emergency surgery uncovered the real problem. My sister had died at the same age I was at of a cancer of unkno...

Re: ANY long term stage 4/peritoneal mets survivors?

I had pretty extensive growth in the small intestine and on the peritoneum (3rd recurrence). It was all tangled up together and kind of a mess. Although initially my surgeon thought the surgery would only be palliative in nature, to stop internal bleeding, he ended up being able to remove everything...

I find that very odd. In my case, CT scans were unable to pick up the cancer until it was quite advanced. I've read that this is a pretty common problem with growth in the intestines.

Re: Alkalized water. (DONT FLAME ME!!)

For those who are interested in this, here's a good overview from an integrative oncologist. He covers the science of this idea and goes into the research (or lack thereof). http://www.integrativeoncology-essentials.com/2013/11/alkaline-diet-and-water-are-they-anticancer/ Key point from the doctor ...

Re: All things are possible to those who believe

Jesus never turned his face away from pain and suffering. He would want us to embrace our friends who share this path, and support them through the darkest moments, no matter how hard that may be. Just IMO, of course. It seems obvious to me that the J-man is far to busy helping people out with othe...

Re: All things are possible to those who believe

I find a lot of positive in the posts from those who are having the toughest times--sharing, connection, compassion, empathy, humor, wisdom. Perhaps you can learn to see that, too, or just click on the topics you know you will want to see--that's easy to do. How do you think your post helps someone...
