Re: Could be something, could be nothing- what would you do?

Thanks for all your feedback - just reiterates to me to follow my gut instinct, which is not to wait 6 months. At least blood tests in a few months to watch the trends. I work in the same office with his surgeon and he told me he would be happy to order a CT scan if we felt we need one for "pea...

Could be something, could be nothing- what would you do?

My husband had his 6 month check-up today. He is 2 1/2 years from the original diagnosis of colorectal cancer - Stage IV as they found one small liver met in the OR that wasn't seen on CT scans. He was never clinically staged prior to surgery, we just knew he had several suspicious lymph nodes. Afte...

Re: Inspirational: CC blogger longterm NED after liver resec

Thanks for posting this. I like the term "declared well". I don't think I could consider my husband as cured at this point, but he is definitely well and back to living life as it was before cancer, numb feet and occasional bowel issues aside, life is pretty normal and it is good. My husba...

Re: Introduction to Bear Avoidance

Too funny, just flipped to look at local paper and we had a bear visit in town today. Some great pics on the website. He was captured and transported to a new home in the mountain range about 30 miles from town. http://billingsgazette.com/news/local/bear-startles-heights-neighborhoods/article_17ec4e...

Re: Introduction to Bear Avoidance

Living just about an hour from the beautiful Yellowstone Park and being an active camping, hiking, and hunting family, bears are common in the outdoor areas where we get away for rest & relaxation. Unfortunately the aggressive grizzlies more so than brown bears. I remember being out on my mounta...

Re: More bad news...

Anji - so sorry to hear the latest news for Larry. Best of luck for him with his surgery. I had a friend who developed brain mets after endometrial cancer and they resected hers just a couple of months ago. She also developed acute symptoms as the tumor was all the sudden putting pressure on certain...

Re: Question about Me- flat polyp

We are facing that decision about follow-up plans as well. One year after his resection, my husband had his first follow-up colonoscopy and they found 1 polyp in the descending colon. It was small and path called it a tubular adenoma which is pre-cancerous (but the better of the precancerous polyps)...

Re: Long overdue update on Larry

It was good to see your post, sorry that the news was not better. I think about you and Larry and your family frequently. Life can certainly change quickly from one day to the next. Last week, I saw two very active, healthy appearing men in their later 60's pass away suddenly. One moment they were t...

Re: Xeloda vs 5 FU COST

One additional cost to figure in for 5FU is the pump rental fee. The chemo was covered under my husband's medical plan, but the infusion pump that we had to take home every 2 weeks was considered "durable medical equipment" and not covered under the medical plan. One would think that since...
