Re: Belly band?

There are several possibilities - belly bands, abdominal binders, and compression sports clothing. Belly bands are available in Target or any store with a pregnancy section. They provide medium support to the abdominal area. Even though these are made for women, they will easily fit a man (think of ...

A Toast to 2020!

In August of 2010, on a perfect summer day, I was told I was dying. I didn't really believe it at first. I was healthy, fit, young, with no history of cancer in my family. Then they showed me the images. There were tumors everywhere. How could someone who looked so well on the outside be so sick on ...

Re: Can chemo increase ALT & AST

Remember is really poison going into you system and after a while, your liver starts to talk to you. Me: Here's some nice Folfox for you. Yum! My liver: @#$%&*!!! Me: I know, but the doctors say it's gooood for you. It'll make you well! Really! (fingers crossed behind back) My liver: That [expl...

Re: After HAI

Did any of you with the pump ever experience some liver pain while getting your pump chemo? DH has been struggling a little with that and a 2 week long stint of morning sickness while the chemo works through his liver. He refuses to take anything and has tried a bunch of other tricks that don't see...

Re: After HAI

Luckily the fluid came back as.... fluid. No bacteria just regular old fluid so good news. They're still having trouble finding the owning to the pump for access because he's still tender and still a little swollen I can't wait for that to be fully healed and maybe that will go smoother Fantastic n...

Re: HAI PUMP REMOVED

I'm due for my HAI pump removal too!!! :D :D :D They said it's just outpatient surgery (no overnight stay in the hospital). I believe they said it would take about an hour. The incision will be glued, not stapled. They leave a piece of the catheter in place (the tip that's in your artery) because th...

Re: Bile duct leak

Thank you so much for sharing this. I think it helps to know that this kind of thing can happen and I’m not some oddball who is now at the edge of liver failure! Like you, I’ve been up and down but lately have been consistent or down; this morning I think I was only about 25, after a few days of 30...

Re: Rectal cancer (Stage 3A) diagnosed late June 2017

Wow! Your fitness level is amazing! If you make it into the upper 40's you'll be in the top 1%! You can blame those Soul Cycle people for the popularity of spinning classes, even though they aren't the same thing. Soul Cycle classes are held in a candlelit room. I don't need candles to get fit. :D W...

Re: Rectal cancer (Stage 3A) diagnosed late June 2017

Lately, it has been generally lower than it has been several months ago with the same exertion levels. It was up in the 180s this past summer and it's mostly been in the 160s with an occasional trip into the 170s. It is likely that I am getting more efficient or stronger. It definitely sounds like ...

Re: Stage IV With Liver Mets

I agree with FightCRC: Dr. Skye Mayo at OHSU in Portland, Oregon, Dr. Yuman Fong at City of Hope in Duarte, California, and (THE world-wide expert on HAI treatment), Dr. Nancy Kemeny at MSKCC in New York City. There are several of us here with HAI pumps, so feel free to ask questions. I, personally,...

Re: After HAI

He thinks this happened because he pushed himself to hard physically to get better quicker from surgery. Example: BEFORE surgery he would walk on the treadmill (during crappy weather) at 1-2 mph AFTER surgery he pushed himself up to 4-5 mph Whoa! That's a big change! Tell him he needs to go sloooow...

Re: Bile duct leak

My instinct weeks ago was, "just get these drains out of me and I'll stop leaking." But of course the surgeon did not agree with my "instinct!" Meantime I have been praying for spontaneous healing so I don't have to worry about this any more!! Gina, I completely empathize with y...
