Re: surgeon / oncologist disagree on staging

Jay and I have that whole Stage IV light thing in common, like he said it won't change the treatment any they are still going to throw everything and the kitchen sink at him so worry about getting through that. Surgeons need to shut the hell up they don't need to be making calls that frankly are the...

Re: Spinal mets question

Our Kathryn Blume, Kathryn in MN, who we lost about a year ago had the same thing, spinal mets but no major organ involvement, she found relief from her spinal mets with the Star Ablation system from Define Inc. Here is a you tube video interview she did about the procedure and what she thought abou...

Re: Partial Liver Transplant: Steve Jobs Story

I must say that that whole article strikes me as BS and I have never heard of "Sciencenordic" and honestly don't know why they would be a source for anything credible.

I might be wrong but then again I might be right.

Re: Can a Stage 3 colon cancer patient be awarded a SSD clai

I received and am receiving Social Security Disability with a stage 3 diagnoses, and no I didn't get a lawyer just filled the paperwork out online. You can also call and do it over the phone several people have had good luck doing that from what I can tell. The main thing seems to be working at the ...

Re: Should I be worry about rise on my CEA level

We all get a little wound up over details after treatment, understandably so, but that small of a variance is very likely to just be "noise" in the testing method. It is hard I know but try to relax. Not to highjack your thread, but the hardest thing for me to deal with post treatment has ...

Re: Texas get-together?

I am up for it don't really have any preference when it comes to location but Galveston sounds interesting as I haven't been there in years. Just so long as we avoid anything close to spring break we should be able to get some good deals.

Re: Holy crap! So that's what they mean by fatique.

Don't push it but rest when you have to. Over time you will get to know the "rhythms" of your chemo treatment and figure out how to pace yourself. Fair warning and I say this with personal experience that overdoing it will make you sicker than you thought possible. Dummy me wound up in the...

Re: Xeloda and folate?

You need to run this by your Oncologist along with any other supplements, vitamins, and etc that you want to take during chemo. You are paying for this expertise use it not the opinion of a bunch of random people on the internet. Further more, if your Oncologist's office has a problem answering your...

Re: Need some help making a decision -- FOLFOX or XELOX?

Ipas I don't think you are Jinxing yourself just deluding yourself, the expensive drug is the Oxi not the 5FU. You will hit the out of pocket max no question. Here is a thread discussing the cost of Chemo treatments, it is a bit dated but I don't think the prices have come down all that much. http:/...

Colonoscopy Number Five

I had my fifth colonoscopy today and I am still NED. Since that is five years after the end of treatment and almost six since diagnoses, end of Feb 2009, I guess I can consider myself "Cured". I don't think my Onc is going to let me off the hook just yet, but I guess it is looking increasi...

Re: Dr's office won't bill prescription drug benefit for che

IPas under the ACA your plan should have an annual out of pocket max, find out what it is. I think you will find that this is all moot since you will be hitting it with 12 chemo treatments anyway regardless of were you get the drugs. Think about it, if you use your drugs to meet the max out of pocke...

Well actually here is a quote from the NIH site on follow up colonoscopies after a colon resection for tumor removal, "Patients with resected colorectal cancer are at risk for recurrent cancer and metachronous neoplasms in the colon." Here is the link to the complete article, http://www.nc...
