Re: My Experiences: Infusion #11 - Keep on Keepin On!

Thanks for the update Midnight! Keep on truckin'. Good advice you gave... rest when you need to and be active when you can. This weekend was all about yardwork for me and I really pushed it and it felt good while I was doing it but, man, it definitely made me sore carrying that weedeater around for ...

Re: Opinion on making plans after first FOLFOX treatment

I agree with those who would not make that trip. Days 3 and 4 are miserable fatigue days for me. Takes all I have just to get up from my chair. I couldn't imagine driving 2 hours...or even riding as a passenger. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Re: Lucky me...

I had the same type of red rash around the wafer area and it turned out that I developed an allergic reaction to alcohol wipes! Anything with alcohol would irritate my skin. As soon as we figured out that it was the alcohol and skin prep pads, the rash slowly disappeared. I just used soapy water and...

Re: Still smokin... (slightly OT, let's discuss.)

I never smoked in my life and I've never looked at fellow cancer patients who smoke any differently than I do myself. We all have our habits. It takes too much energy fighting this disease to judge people. And, I agree, life is precious, especially at Stage IV, to give up those simple things that gi...

Re: Oxi and neuropathy...when to stop

Thanks all, for your comments. My onc has switched me from Folfox to Folfiri for the rest of my treatments. I didn't have to convince him to switch, I just explained the extent of my neuropathy and he said "all right, that's enough of that". So here's hoping the Folfiri does the trick, as ...

Re: Latest Update

That's great news Tim. Let's hope the good news keeps coming. Are you continuing on a full dose of chemo, or a lower "maintainence" dose?

Re: So this past Tuesday...

Absolutely, I've had those moments when I wanted to get up and walk out the door! My cancer center is 5 minutes from my house and I have to drive by it all the time, and every time I drive by it I actually get that nauseated feeling I get when on chemo. I understand that the center is saving my life...

Re: Doing a survey - Rate your reversal success

I would rate mine a 5-6. I had a colostomy at first, then after my tumor (rectal) resection I had a temp ileostomy put in. 5 months later I had it reversed and it backfired. Had to be rushed to E.R. after being home for a week. They had to open me up and clean me out really good to avoid infection (...

Re: Good news!

That is incredible news Kathryn! Especially since I'm relying on Folfiri and Avastin right now to keep my lung mets in check. Enjoy the weekend!

Re: stage 4 colon cancer with mets to the lung

I was originally diagnosed stage III, then a year later I had mets to the liver. Successful liver resection. 14 months later I had multiple (6-8) mets in both lungs. Very small, none bigger than 7mm but because they were in both lungs and multiple, I am not a surgery candidate....nor RFA. I am curre...

Re: Port cooperated today!

I hope the reduced amount of chemo works for you. Looks like I'm on the same path as you...I'm on Folfiri and Avastin now till June and then we will scan and hopefully some shrinkage occurs that I can be put on a lower maintainance dose. Going home for two days with that pump makes it hard for me to...

The brand I prefered was Hollister 2-piece convex. I usually could get 4-5 days out of a barrier.

Re: Pooped my pants today

The "emergency bag" that was asked about in a previous post, for me, is simply a change of clothes, wipes, small garbage bag, and several depends absorbent pads in case you don't need a complete change. I wear an absorbent pad in my underwear, so sometimes I have a small accident that only...

Re: Anyone taking Neurontin for neuropathy?

I'm not on neurontin but I have similar neuropathy symptoms like you and have been considering Lyrica, but I am afraid of the drowsy side effects with suicidal thoughts. I am already on Zoloft for depression and it, along with the chemo, is really zapping my energy. The zoloft is helping me cope wit...
