Re: O/T "pink" rant/vent (read at your peril)

Six months before my dx and about two weeks after my Mom's BC dx, the hotel I worked at hosted a convention for BC patients/survivors. They had seminars on txs, symptoms, survival and an exhibit hall with vendors. Part of the exhibit hall had an art exhibit with pics of topless women who had lumpect...

Re: Exercise Thread October 2011

I'm walking a couple of miles to preschool two days a week, and I swear that after three weeks, it's finally not feeling like a battle to make it up the steep hill to my final destination. Daughter loves the outdoor time, and I make her get out and walk on the steep parts. <evil laugh> Husband and ...

Re: Not a good start to the day...TMI and venting...sorry

my husband uses ginger candy from nutsonline.com to help nausea and he said it does help. Janet Can't do ginger, I ate too much during my pregnancy pre dx and can't stand it now. The nausea is actually from post nasal drip and congestion. So even zofran doesn't do much for it. 95% of the times I vo...

Re: got a pink person to have a colonoscopy

Well I am glad to see that your frustration from last week turned out positively. It sounds like you really did help her. It does surprise me that someone who has already had another cancer and went through tx and surgery, would still be afraid of a scope.

Good work Helen!

Not a good start to the day...TMI and venting...sorry

Started by waking up nauseaus. I have about five differant meds to take in the morning, one on an empty stomach, another exactly 30min later with food, then I take others every 30 min with this or that. Its a real pain in the butt, plus inhalers in certain orders. Then in the middle of my med routin...

Re: Xeloda Long Term Maintenance

I could be wrong here(there is a first time for everything  ), but as I read it the 'cavalier' comment seemed directed at the masturbation jibes while she is worried about leaving her young children behind. Sorry guys, I love you all but that would have frustrated me too if I was asking seriou...

Re: This means war pink :) The Final Straw

Edinaman- I am glad to see that getting printed, this is the problem I have with all the pink. That it is now a slimy marketing scheme. My Mom is also a BC survivor and so I am very thankful for what they have been able to achieve so far through these pink campaigns in terms of awareness and researc...

Re: irinotecan and hicupps

I had hiccups bad on folfiri and my nurses said it was from irinotecan, but I guess it could have been from decadron too. Anyways for me an Ativan always took care of them, if I had a real stubborn bout of hiccups I would do some controlled breathing exercises in addition to the ativan.

Re: colon cancer daughter 30

The bleeding can be from many things but she is doing the best thing by getting a scope to check it out. Try not to worry too much right now, it will drive you nuts. Wait till you get the scope on Thurs, if (I am praying its not) it is the worst case scenario have your daughter contact me via PM on ...

Re: "New body" issues

Yes, I have lost weight drastically twice now. The first time sarted pre-dx through my first 6 mos of tx, and now again in the last 4 months. I have been very aware of how ghostly I look but yesterday I was walking up to a building that was all reflective glass in the front, I stopped in shock at ho...

Re: Question for people who have to deal with blockages

I didn't realize how much veggies I really eat until this last week. I have had two blockages in the last month and am realizing I can't just go and eat anything I want anymore. I was on a liquid diet since I came home on Wednesday and I am craving anything and everything I can't have. Today was the...

Re: URGENT QUESTION ... level of platelets help please

Mine dropped down to 46,000 and my Onc canceled chemo and had me get a platelet transfusion. For two months after I struggled to get them back to normal. He was happy if they were over 100,000,anything less he reduced my chemo. Platelets dropping is very frustrating because other than transfusions t...

Re: Questions for those who have went to Call on Congress

Well I have talked to my Mom and she is pretty excited to go, she lives in Tennessee. We are going to see if my sister wants to join us and have a girls weekend :P , my sister lives in Colorado. So a few days with my Mom and sister, without the babies, while doing something to bring some awareness t...
