Re: Post surgical changes. Reoccurrence?

Thank you all for your replies. The surgeon didn't seem too care much about it. I asked him if this is possibly a reoccurrence, he said it could be or not. To my question if he can do a sigmoidoscopy he answered that it won't tell him anything. He said my husband looks good and he doesn't see any r...

Re: Does anyone have a little drinky drink during chemo?

I drink too much and drank too much during chemo. It’s not a good thing but my liver and blood were always good. Year out and cancer free with normal liver function. This is not a suggestion, of course, but don’t get bent about having a couple of cocktails.

Re: For Stage III's: NED for how long now?

I had my one year ct and colonoscopy this week and learned my results this morning. All clear. Scope, ct and blood all great. One down, four to go.

Re: It's baaaaaaack!

My oncological surgeon's office called me today. They're going to do 4-6 rounds of chemo, then surgery, then more chemo after that. For my last liver met, they did it via robotic surgery and I was home in 2 days. This time, they'll take about 1/3rd of my liver. He said he will actually remove my li...

Re: Scan scheduled

I logged in after a break because my one year scans are coming up in a couple of weeks. Starting to get that scanxiety. Hope the MRI confirms what you docs believe!

Re: Help dealing with Health Anxiety/Panic

This may seem obvious but I rely on Xanax. Never taken it before being diagnosed but I've had a couple of panic attacks in the last year and sometimes feel one coming on. The Xanax does the trick. I also take it before going into MDA for surveillance appointments.

Re: Is the Chemo Working?

My onc told me side effects have no correlation to the effectiveness of the chemo.

I did have greatly improved bowel function at about round three. As I hadn’t had surgery yet, my onc said that was a great sign. It was.

Re: Scanxiety

Before cancer (2017 dx) I had never taken an anti anxiety med before. For scanxiety or other random cancer issues, I lean on Xanax. It works, at least for me. Only issue is it makes me really tired about three hours later. I have Ativan left over from all the anti nausea drugs I got last year. I ne...

Re: Reversal is Over

To those facing (should be IMO looking forward to) surgery - I was reversed last September. Bowel function is great. No issues day-to-day. Live, work and play without any concern about bathrooms. A lot of folks turn out well.

Re: Rectal Cancer - Standard of Care Approach or Neoadjuvant Chemo approach???

My signature tells my story. No radiation has been great for me. Just got to get through the years of waiting for a recurrence.

BTW, my bowel function has been excellent after losing 90% of my rectum. Docs attribute that to not having radiation.

Re: Rectal Cancer: Habr-Gama Watch and Wait Strategy to Avoid Surgery

Per the below I was dx’d t3,n1,m0. After six rounds of folfox I was t0,n0,m0 - path complete response. Only one datapoint, sure, but there may be some changes on the horizon if the data is good.

Lotta free space in Alaska. Should be prime grounds for popping a squat in nature whenever the need may occur.
