Re: Immunotherapy in Switzerland

So rp1954 has kept his wife alive for 8 years using "magical thinking"?... A person would have to be a "quack" to think magic would work.

Re: Clarification on response rate with Folfox as first line treatment

My only treatment was folfox, I had a very good response. But everyone is different. It also depends on the genetics of the cancer.

Re: Dexamethasone

The taste problem is difficult to deal with I even had trouble drinking water, one thing I found that helped was peppermint candy, the round red and white striped ones. I would have one in my mouth while drinking, worked really good. As far as eating, anything he has an appetite for,. feed it to him...

Re: What options after chemo no longer effective?

Getting another opinion at a major cancer hospital. Or if you're at a major center now still get another opinion. What type of cancer do you have? And what surgery was declined?

Re: 5 fu and oxaliplatin

I didn't use any supplements during chemo other than ginger to help with nausea, ginger ale worked good. I didn't know much about supplements at that time but I've seen many posts here where supplements were helpful. Search for threads on supplements there are members here that are very knowledgeabl...

Re: 5 fu and oxaliplatin

I completed 12 rounds of folfox but reduced the oxi by 50% round 11and eliminated round 12 due to neuropathy. It's very important your dad communicates all side effects to the Onc. Supplements are very helpful but also discuss them with the Dr before taking anything. Stay hydrated, drink lots of flu...

Re: THC RSO

Pretty sure if THC could cure cancer the oncology profession would not exist. THC can help with side effects from chemo but it's not going to kill a cancer cell.

Re: mixed mri results

I agree looks like a good response. Try not to let the radiology report worry you you'll get answers at the appt. , I know that's easier said than done.

Re: mixed mri results

One of the main things they look at with the first scan is if the cancer is responding to the chemo if not then they try a different line. Maybe this is what the Onc was trying to say, although it obviously has to do with surgery. If there wasn't a good response they wouldn't necessarily say no chan...

Was the doctor who said no surgery her oncologist? If so maybe get an appointment with her surgeon and get his/her perspective

Re: Life Insurance

My insurance policy has the same terminal illness rider, it also has a critical illness rider. I qualified for that and was able to pull $25,000. It was quick and easy, had a check in 2 weeks.
