Re: NEW-Need some positivity here.

I had my resection and no lymph node involvement. All margins were clear. I did not do any chemo after. Hindsight is usually 20/20. I am now halfway through chemo and need to start thinking about the next step. My timeline is in my signature. I really don't want to scare you but you should consider...

Re: NEW-Need some positivity here.

Adjuvant chemotherapy is treatment after surgery. preadjuvant is before surgery. I had both. Radiation/chemo to shrink tumor, surgery, then clean up chemo after. I had 0 lymph node involvement and no spread. And even though after radiation all that was left of tumor was scar tissue and pet scan sho...

Re: NEW-Need some positivity here.

Hi Teacher, I'm sorry you find yourself here. Can you please share your symptoms that led you to see a Dr. Yes sure! I was having pains about 1/2 hour after I ate in late May. Seems I'd get bloated and feel the same feeling of having diarreah but it would never come. Only minimal blood when wiping....

Re: NEW-Need some positivity here.

Rest and take one day at a time. The doctor ordered home nursing care for me which I was very helpful. You may want to ask if that is an option. She would come a couple times a week and check my vitals and answer any questions I had. I had a temporary ileostomy and she would help with that as well....

Re: NEW-Need some positivity here.

Update- hopefully going home tomorrow. Walking and eating today. Not over doing it. Hoping pathology report is good. The wait will be more torture. This resection was no walk in the park. Now low fiber diet...any suggestions?

Re: New

In this boat too. Just had my resection. It's a large tumor but it seemed to be localized. Now worrying about the lymphs. This is a great support group- a lot of helpful people with tons of success stories. We have to keep positive!

Re: NEW-Need some positivity here.

Spoke to Dr- it was very localized. He took out a large mass with lots of nodes. Pathology will be very specific. He definitely removed the closest ones that were inflamed. He said this was positive news. He was smiling. I don't think I will be ok ever again. Even after that pathology report which c...

Re: NEW-Need some positivity here.

Was it a malignant polyp? How big part of colon was resected? Normally minimum is 12 lymph nodes. But I was told that in younger people and left side there might not be that many lymph nodes. He took about a foot. I will ask about the lymph nodes. I was in there for six hours. I'm a little groggy. ...

Re: NEW-Need some positivity here.

Quick update- I'm still here. Surgery went well in some pain. Tumor was the size of an orange. It was contained too that's what the Dr said. It went no where. He took four lymph nodes. Thoughts?

Re: NEW-Need some positivity here.

Re: NEW-Need some positivity here.

Big mistake telling some people at work. I left and everyone was hugging me like I was going to die. I know they are really wishing me well but it was too much. I had to leave. Last night I barely slept. Horrible morbid thoughts. Today is prep day. I need this resection to be over. My nerves can't t...
