Re: Experiences with T1 - please share with me

Mozart, For t1 colon or any colon cancer I think radiation is never used. Also chemo is not used for t1 colon. The only other option is to have surgery and check the lymph nodes. If clear lymph nodes statistics show that possible spread from t1 cancer is like 2 / 3% so that's why chemo is not used. ...

Re: Experiences with T1 - please share with me

Hi, Sorry you are here. Yes, I had t1 in pedunculated polyp. That's the type that looks like a mushroom. The polyp was huge 5 cm. 3 cm head and 2 cm stalk. Highgrade dysplacia in the head. Stalk was completely free of any dysplacia. No vascular invasion. I had 3 different pathology reports done and ...

Re: NEW-Need some positivity here.

Polyps can get very big. My was huge. 2 cm stalk and 3 cm head. The cancer was 0.6 cm on the top of the head. I didn't have any symptoms and suddenly started to bleed so I had colonoscopy. I think my polyp could had been there for 10 years from what I have read. My kids 13 and almost 16 will have to...

Re: NEW-Need some positivity here.

That's a great news! Polyps are usually early cancers. I also had a polyp but it was only cancerous at the very top. It was completely removed during colonoscopy. It was a mushroom type / pedunculated. Yours was probably sessil because otherwise it would had been removed during colonoscopy. Unless i...

Re: Malignant polyp, stalk invaded

If it was only in the head than no stalk invasion. Than it's Haggit 1. Stalk invasion - cancer in the stalk is Haggit 3.

Re: Malignant polyp, stalk invaded

TVA - tubuvillious adenoma would be my guess? My whole polyp stalk was just regular adenoma. Head of the polyp was high grade adenoma with 0.6 cm invasive cancer / adenocarcinoma. Often times with large polyps if part are high grade adenoma than a small section / focus of invasive cancer could be fo...

Re: NEW-Need some positivity here.

Was it a malignant polyp? How big part of colon was resected? Normally minimum is 12 lymph nodes. But I was told that in younger people and left side there might not be that many lymph nodes.

Re: NEW-Need some positivity here.

That's NOT truth. From the info you have shared. You might still be stage 1 and completely cured by surgery alone. It seems that it might had been a polyp gone cancerous. 95% stage 1 is cured by surgery. Even stage 3 about 50% is cured by surgery alone if I remember correctly.

Re: 23 year old female, waiting on pathology

Sorry you are here. From what you said - adenoma is a polyp. Large polyps can often have cancer cells. I think the larger - the more likely. Since your polyp could not be removed during colonoscopy. I am guessing you have a sessil type of polyp. Pedunculated / mushroom type could usually be removed ...

Re: Genetic Testing

If I remember correctly I was told 99% of cancers are not genetic. Now it says 95%. The more and more genes are discovered... I had all the genetic testing done for all panel of cancers. I was told I could redo it in 10 years. It is important to know if you are Lynch.

Re: NEW-Need some positivity here.

I am sorry you are here. Maybe get a 3rd opinion? I went to 4 different colorectal surgeons. 2 of these were in the same Baylor hospital and I wouldn't recommend that. Because it seems they would most likely have similar recommendation. I think the best is to go to a cancer center with GI department...

Re: Colon cancer scared!

I had a large polyp and it was not detected by CT scan with contrast. Colonoscopy is the best to rule out anything.

Re: Malignant polyp, stalk invaded

From the original post. Yes, it is adenocarcinoma haggit level 3 / stage 1 colon cancer. Haggit level 0 is non invasive - precancerous. Level 1 is head, level 2 neck, level 3 stalk and level 4 colon wall invasion. Most pedunculated adenocarcinomas don't require surgery. But it is all individual case...

Re: Malignant polyp, stalk invaded

Sorry to hear. I had the same type of polyp. But my invasion was level 1 haggit - limited to the head of the polyp. I was considering surgery / colon resesction but cancer center surgical GI oncologist met with me several times and said no / refused. So I put my life in his hands and hope for the be...
