Re: very rough day post Folfiri + Avastin

I'm doing well :) minor recurrence but no treatment for now. Enjoying life :P What I did back then was I would always have fresh lemon with me. Whenever I felt like committing, I would cut it open and sniff the lemon. Of course I had all the anti nausea medication in the world too (some gave me cons...

Re: very rough day post Folfiri + Avastin

I had exactly that same reaction together with neverending vomit after my folfiri+avastin. I was at one point crawling on the floor coz I was too weak to walk to the bathroom to vomit some more. My WBC dropped rapidly and I had lost 7lbs in one week as well by the second round. The Dr felt I probabl...

Re: SBRT

8) Hi there, I have done SBRT, but not to my lungs. I know someone who has done SBRT to their lungs. I can share with you both experience. SBRT was very easy to me. I had a total of 5 sessions to my pelvic area, I hadn't done more as it would damage too much of my colon. Each session lasted for abou...

Re: Anything to avoid or relieve first bite pain after FOLFOX ?

Avoid cold things, sour things. I also noticed whenever saliva came out from the side of mouth, it would hurt too, not just when I took the first bite. Like if someone was cooking up something delicious, and I was hungry, even the small walk to the dinner table, I could feel my jaw hurting a bit. So...

Re: My CRC with liver mets journey

I’ve thought a lot about why this recurrence is so emotionally deflating (other than the obvious). When I decided to keep working in the wake of my initial diagnosis, I got the feeling that if I recurred, THAT would be the time to quit because it would be a sign that I wouldn’t make it. My therapis...

Re: Adjuvant chemo or not

If I were you, I wouldn't do chemo and I share with you why. I am a stage IV and had 18 months chemo free until the latest recurrence in my lymph nodes. It is not a good place to have Mets and I'm now doing chemo. I had a pseudo recurrence last Aug in my lung which VATS took care of it. Surgeon and ...

Re: A thought on chemo side effects

We were kinda upset to hear this morning that DH would get his 9th Folfiri treatment postponed by a week because of neutropenia. But then I found this article: https://medivizor.com/blog/SampleLibrary/colorectal-cancer/does-chemotherapy-induced-neutropenia-improve-survival-in-metastatic-colorectal-...

Re: Keytruda Side Effects: bad joint pain

So I had the 6-day prednisone pack starting 6/28, and it gave me a few days of glorious low pain and high energy...but the pain came roaring back as soon as I was done. It is probably at a level about 10% less than pre-prednisone, though. Ibuprofen helps a bit, but I'm still semi-crippled. I think ...

Re: Questions, questions, too many questions.

Mohrfamily, I don't feel that your doctor has that curative intent at heart. I may be wrong. Just my gut feeling. I had 5 tumors in my liver at diagnosis, the largest one was 8cm. Almost all segments were involved. The doctors got me to NED in 6 months and told me at every consultation in that 6 mon...

Re: What do you think?

Hi Paola, Just to give you some encouragement on the chemo bit. I trust chemo works to a certain extent, and I used to work for a pharmaceutical player. That says a lot. But when I say I trust, I mean it from my own experience. I was originally not a candidate for surgery because of the tumor bulk I...

Re: Low platelets before chemo

My platelets were barely scraping the low end of the normal range when I started Folfox, maybe around 140, and went steadily down from there. I had to postpone chemo a week for the count to come back up a few times. My count was below 80 many times, and no one ever mentioned getting a transfusion. ...
