Re: Sigmoid + Distant Lymph Nodes

Start folfox as soon as you can, add the other regiment later. If it's in your lymphatic system, you don't want to wait and see. That's my opinion.

Re: Newly diagnosed

Hello Vana, My DH"s cancer was also in his cecum. His grew out towards his appendix. He started having pain like you would with an appendicitis, otherwise we would of not know for a long time down the road. He had surgery and did 12 rounds of folfox. It wasn't easy but we made it thru. We live ...

Re: Stage IIIb, T4 tissue invasion. 12 yrs ago.

It is indeed encouraging to hear these stories. My husband was also a t4 and he is almost 9 years out from DX. He had surgery, followed by 6 months of folfox and has been NED ever since. It is a very rough road and looking back I really don't know how I held it together and made it through. I guess ...

Re: CEA and it’s anxiety

My husbands cea continued to go up and down even after chemo, though it never went up as high as it did when he was undergoing chemo. I have spoken to people who it has though. I know this is driving you crazy, but try to remain calm. Keep us posted and I will be hoping and praying for a false high....

Re: CEA and it’s anxiety

My husband was one of those who had as they termed it " A fluctuating CEA". It almost drove me into the nut house. I remember on one occasion, it went from 2.8 to 5.7 in a three month period of time. They ordered a pet scan, and all was normal. He was in the middle of chemo then, so they s...

Re: FOLFOX

My husband did 12 rounds of it. His worst days were day 4 and 5 of each cycle. He had numbness on his feet and finger tips and sensitivity to cold. He had almost every warned side effect, but it was all very manageable and it all resolved within several months after his last cycle. With the exceptio...

Re: Stage IV (with liver cyst) - 6 yrs NED

My husband, on his ct scans, there was always mention of liver cysts along with one in his left kidney and one in his pancreas. Our oncologist at MDA said not to worry. After over 5 years of scanning, they never changed and nothing came of them. He always told us that cysts take on a very different ...

Re: Mop up chemo - Port vs non-port for Oxi?

I didn't even think they would do it without a port. The surgery for putting on in is very simple. A port is the way to go in my opinion!

Re: Thought of more questions re: postoperative CEA

my husbands jumped around a lot as well. usually ranged from 2.4 to 3.3. On one occasion it jumped to 5.7, but nothing ever came of it. It's stressful to say the least.

Dam insurance companies. You can't live without them, but you can barely live with them!

Hey, we all get it! This board is not only for advice, but is also for venting. You vent here as much as you need to.

I'm a praying person and I pray a rosary every single day. You and all the members of this board are included in my intentions.

Re: Laid off before Dx

We went thru the same thing. My husband was a pilot and federal aviation regulations do not allow a pilot to operate aircraft while undergoing chemo. He lost his medical and was played off till he finished treatment and could prove he was cancer free to the best of the doctors knowledge. We kept his...
