Re: Foods to avoid during chemotherapy

Keep an eye out for thrush in the mouth. Boy, I got that alot and had to have a special mouth rinse. I liked those pudding cups and little snack packs of peaches...because you do not have to refrigerate them. Room temperature Gatoraide. Cold protein drinks I would add powdered milk to and boiling w...

Re: How young is too young for COLONOSCOPY

I'm pretty sure that a lower endoscopy is a colonoscopy and an upper endoscopy is a gastroscopy. It seems that a lot of people get confused and think that an endoscopy is only an upper endoscopy - an endoscopy also includes colonoscopies. Is your daughter still passing blood - if not, it is highly ...

Re: How young is too young for COLONOSCOPY

Thank you all. The only thing i am afraid of are the risks associated with the procedure. I dont know what to do I dont know what's the right thing to do in her situation. which has the highest risk: her having the colonoscopy or not having it? My family thinks i am crazy and that i am putting my po...

Re: Foods to avoid during chemotherapy

Thank you all. Hope you all had a nice weekend. It looked like the worst days were the day of his pump removal and the 2 days following it. My husband seems to be doing a lot better now and his appetite is coming back to normal slowly. We'll see what happens after his second infusion. Fingers crossed.

Re: Foods to avoid during chemotherapy

Thank you all. I agree with all of your comments and I admit that this is a very difficult time for my husband both physically and emotionally. My husband only had his first infusion and 48 hr. pump but he is already feeling weak, nauseous, mouth taste change, jaw pain and refuses to eat most of the...

Hello and am so sorry about your husband's diagnosis. I can only imagine the shock and devastation you are going through. I don't have much advice to offer you since we are new ourselves in this battle but i do want to wish your husband a good outcome of whatever treatment path you choose. Arm yours...

Re: New and nervous

Hello and welcome the club, First I am very sorry for your loss. It must be very hard for you to cope with your loss and going through the fear of cancer. I am 39 years old and just 2 weeks ago had my 5th colonoscopy. I had my 1st colonoscopy when i was 28. No, I don't have cancer. Or at least not y...

How young is too young for COLONOSCOPY

Guys i need your help. Few months ago while my husband was still getting his chemoradiation, i had another bout of anxiety and shock. It was the day when my at that time 14 year old yelled for me from the restroom to go and check on something. When i went to the restroom, she looked scared and confu...

Foods to avoid during chemotherapy

Hi All, What were the foods you have been told to avoid during chemotherapy, specifically during FOLFOX? We all know about the negative effects of chemo on the body, how it can not only kill the cancer cells but also the healthy cells in the body thus impairing one's immune system and disabling it t...

Re: Upstaged after surgery

Hello, Sorry to hear about your upstaging. Don't panic and don't feel discouraged. I have seen many signet cell cancer survivors in this group. Have you had any chemo and radiation before your surgery? With rectal cancer, neo adjuvant chemo radiation is normally the protocol. I assume you did, since...
