KRAS mutation test kits

Suggestion: If you have been staged as Stage IV or as high risk Stage III and are due to have a KRAS mutation test done, it might be a good idea to ask what kind of test kit will be used for the mutation test. This is because there are different kinds of approved test kits on the market that could b...

Re: Still Hunting

I hope you all are living it up in France. Taking off next week - hopefully they let us enter, now that we're fully vaccinated! I've no idea what CT scan machine is used at our local hospital. I don't think the onc will move the scan up; from what I can see on DH's chart, the next appointment is 3 ...

Stage IV: a totally different disease

I'm re-posting this earlier post of GrouseMan because it contains an excellent overview of the profound difference between Stage IV disease and Stage I, Stage II and Stage III disease. Stage IV disease is really a different disease and requires a different, customized approach. Well said Catstaff! I...

Re: I received my results in the mail

There is still time before your next doctor/patient telephone appointments for you to get all of your questions lined up and prioritized. All projects -- whether they be in journalism, law, science, engineering, etc. -- need to make effective use of the six main question words: Who? Where? What? Why...

Re: On Folfox, just learned I was exposed to covid

I would consider doing ivermectin and higher dose vitamin D3 to reduce inflammation, viral activity, spike protein effects, and improve immunity, but you'll likely need an outside doctor with specialized interests for that. Some patients and drs may have relevant prior 5FU/folfox - ivermectin exper...

Re: Stage 3, likelihood of recurrence after resection & chemotherapy

Hi, I could not login under my old user name because I do not have access to my old email address. I was diagnosed in November 2004 at 41 years old with Stage IIIC with 6 nodes positive and a colostomy. I had 12 rounds of Folfox with Oxi. My colostomy was reversed after my chemo was completed. My f...

Re: Problems with bowels after covid

I don't have much information relevant to your question, but I seem to remember that patients who have had pelvic radiation may experience long-term radiation after-effects years after the original exposure. Maybe what you are experiencing is a long-term radiation flare-up. On another front, I hope...

Re: Next steps after chemotherapy

Another thought occurred to me about your upcoming September 1st appointment with the Integrative Medicine doctor. If he has the time, you could ask him if he has any suggestions for enhancing the immune system specifically for dealing with COVID type infections -- in case you're interested.

Descending colon biopsy : Consists of focally distorted colorectal mucosa with ulceration. Fibrosis, hypertrophy of muscularis mucosa is present. No granulomas are identified. Negative for dysplasia. I know that negative for dysplasia means it doesn't look like cancer. I don't understand the other ...

Re: Next steps after chemotherapy

...I have a meeting with an integrative oncologist from MSK (Dr Deng) on September 1. Any suggestions on what questions to ask? The kind of question you could ask is: "Could you please focus your recommendations so that they are relevant for a patient who has been diagnosed with Lupus." Y...
