Re: Good for MLB!

I am not even a baseball fan, but I kept flipping over from the hockey game to catch SU2C's moment. I completed a placard via their iPhone app and posted to Facebook and tweeted. I'm not someone who is very active on FB and the placard was the first time I have gone public (everyone I'm in touch wit...

Re: family and expectations

This is a great thread, as its important for us to talk about this subject and most others do not "get it". I live alone too, but my brother and several of my friends have been very helpful to me when I am unable to do things. Without a primary caregiver, it is easy to feel alone in the ba...

Re: Progression on Stivarga.. What now??

Guinivere.. Thank you for the tips. I will for sure get the tea. I have not really had any nausea from my prior chemo drugs, so this will be a first. I will not complain if anything stops me up. I have told the chemo nurses for years that I will pay them $1000 if they can find something that stops m...

Re: Progression on Stivarga.. What now??

Guinivere, thank you. I have moved up my appt. with the new oncologist at UC Irvine to tomorrow and I am keeping an open mind about Irinotecan. I can't take Erbitux as I am Kras mutant. I already take 3 Lomotil every day even when I'm not on chemo.. But I think you're right about at least trying the...

Re: Mom's first birthday in Heaven

It is not easy to lose a parent, especially one you are close with as an adult. My heart goes out to you. I lost my Dad almost 20 years ago and I still miss him every day. The difference is that time will bring healing so that you can derive joy from those happy memories, without the pain of loss ov...

Re: Progression on Stivarga.. What now??

Thank you for the replies. Lee, Xelox is like FolFox, except that Xeloda (the pill form of 5FU) is used in place of 5FU via pump. 5 treatments were all I could stand before I got terrible neuropathy in my feet, some of which I still have. I am Kras mutant, so that line of drugs is not an option for ...

Progression on Stivarga.. What now??

I am mostly a lurker on this forum, but today I'm looking for some direction. I am a stage 4 rectal cancer patient with numerous mets to the lung. I progressed through Xelox plus Avastin, then Xeloda alone and finally Stivarga. I began Stivarga on Jan 1, 2013, and I had no growth the first two quart...

Re: It's the Big R now for me

Guinevere, I am a regular reader of this forum but I seldom post. I just wanted to say that I follow your posts and I find you so inspirational. Thinking of you and wishing for great results from the big "R" tomorrow. I am also on the big "R" and will have my third quarter scan l...

Re: true story - the joys of Avastin

I have a horror story about Avastin too. I took it back in 2009 and 2010. What turned out to be my final infusion was on a Friday. On Sunday, I woke up with a screaming headache that lasted over 40 days and required tons of OxyContin and fioreset. In order to avoid the screaming pain, I was basicall...

Re: Regorafenib - any good outcomes? info?

Candy... I have not experienced that. My onc did tell me that most side effects crop up early on. It is less likely one will get new side effects after many months on treatment.

Re: Regorafenib - any good outcomes? info?

I have been on Regirafenib since Jan 1, 3013. I am taking the full dose, 4 pills/day for 21 days, then 7 days off. I have not had the serious side effects, liver toxicity or high blood pressure. I do have a lot of fatigue, compared to all the other chemos I have been on previously, slight (unsightly...

Re: Here I am at MDA...

Good luck Skypup! Your friend's comment was very insensitive. Unfortunately, it seems she is focused on her own feelings, not yours. I wish you had a friend with you that was focused on your needs and feelings. Have confidence in the diagnostic process. That is why you are at MDA... They are the best.

Re: Questions about port implantation

Sounds like either something went wrong with the insertion, or she had no local anasthetic. I had anesthetic similar to what you get for a colonoscopy, and I felt nothing and had no bruise. When my port is accessed, I put a quarter sized glob of lidocaine ( prescribed ahead of time- comes in a tube)...

Re: Stage is a state of mind ... CURE Today

David.. Your post is so completely TRUE. The reason they progressed so far with AIDS treatment is that they made it a political issue, thus garnering millions and millions of dollars' worth of research, funded both privately and by our government. This occurred even though AIDS kills far fewer peopl...

Re: Daily Imodium?

Does anyone take Imodium on a regular bases?

I take three Lomotil (atropine) every day to help with urgency and diarrhea. I have found oncologists mostly unhelpful on this subject. You should take what you need to function and have a life.
Best wishes to you! Bonnie
