3month checkup

I just had my 3month checkup and everything looks great. CEA level is normal and the physical exam though unpleasant was also good. Very happy to have a clean checkup. :D

Re: 5 weeks post-reversal

Start with one time a day after your largest meal for two weeks . If no improvement then take twice a day mornings and evenings. Make sure to drink plenty of water.

Re: Laporascopic or open surgery for colon cancer

Had laparoscopic LAR With TME. Very minimal scarring. The surgeon has to be skilled. I had Rectal cancer and it was small less than 1cm. Everything has turned out great so far.

Re: Local Excision Pain and Recovery Time

It will soften you up and keep you somewhat regular I would think . Since you have your whole rectum, but you have to drink plenty of water with it. Also you might wan...

I only got the tracer injection, definitely get the cd. You can put in your computer and look at the images yourself before you give it to your Doctor if you wish. Good luck and I will say a prayer for you.

Re: Did the aroma of your gas change after resection?

I have more frequent gas and use gas x pills everyday. Thay actually don't smell any more or very little. Maybe because I no longer have a rectum and there is no reservoir for food to sit and rot.

Re: Advice needed for upcoming LAR & temp ileostomy

I had same surgery. See my signature. The surgery is not bad laparoscopically. There really isn't anything out of the ordinary to bring. Maybe some comfy slippers, their gripper socks suck. You will want to walk a lot so make them give you two gowns. Wear the second one like a cape to cover your rea...
