How are you holding up?

Re: mCRC STAGE IV OR RECURRENT PATIENTS thread - ONGOING

Just checking in. Recent pet-ct scan shows no growth. Tumors same size as last scan, which is good from a relative standpoint. Will get a longer break! Believing for at least 2 more months. Have been cooking a ton! Thai, malaysian and dumplings for bun! She is very happy to have some dishes from hom...

Re: Colon cancer/ lymph nodes

In my case, the colon cancer spread to distant lymph nodes only. I am one of the pure Colon Cancer board Olymphians. The lymph nodes are inoperable given the spread. I have mets in the lymph nodes in my neck, abdomen and thoracic areas. Fortunately, relatively speaking, the mets have not spread to a...

Re: Can Any Good Come Out of Having Cancer

I echo Skypup .... To me, it depends on your Stage at the start of diagnosis .... I went straight to Stage IV .... So for me, it's tough to find a "good" that comes out of having Stage IV cancer .... I'm sure that I can, but my world was completely changed, never to return .... Dreams gone...

I still have my drive and it is very strong. If I ever lose it, which I am praying that I don't, just let me go right then. :)

Re: mCRC STAGE IV OR RECURRENT PATIENTS thread - ONGOING

Just checking in everyone. After 4 treatments of FOLFOX and Avastin, the lymph node tumors shrank. GREAT! But the chemotherapy treatments are getting tougher and tougher. Couldn't meet my work commitments because the thought of getting on an airplane 2 days after disconnect made me nauseous. Am losi...

Re: Did you "know" something was wrong years before

Not all. Healthy as could be and in better shape at 46 than I was at 30. Complete shock. Did not pay attention to grandparents siblings having cancer. Turned out I have Lynch Syndrome. So was way worse when actual symptoms manifested only two months before that fateful colonoscopy .... Blessings, Tom

Re: Extracapsular lymph node invasion -- anyone else have th

Hi lpas, Many of the members have had the colon cancer spread from the lymph nodes to other tissue/organs. You can look up olymphian and see information. I have distant lymph node spread only with no organ involvement. The survivability is due to the spread. Once it gets past the colon wall it is ch...

Re: Oxiplatin and cold sensitivity

I just test myself every day to see whether or not I can take the cold. I am good with drinking room temp water and sodas. I test myself really just to see if I can eat ice cream. :D

Re: Sobriety?

As a Stage 4 with chemo for life, I have decided to enjoy as much as I can handle, which is less than pre-diagnosis. I enjoy a glass of wine, martini, beer on non chemo days when I don't feel nauseous. I also decided to eat whatever I want and to smoke a cigar or pipe when I feel like it. This is de...

Re: Tchann8888.... Tom? Feel like checking in?

Hi Regan, Thanks for "prompting" me. Have been checking in, but not posting on the board. Just passed 2 years since diagnosis. From a treatment standpoint, am now on FOLFOX with Avastin after a one month break from treatment (i.e., last FOLFIRI). Lymph node mets in my neck and underarm are...

Re: Lymph node involvement question

The less lymph nodes the better. Also, was the 1 lymph node local to the tumor? That's better than my case where distant lymph nodes were effected, i.e., the cancer traveled.

Be blessed,

Tom
