hi Ali, welcome to the greatest bunch of folks you could find to help you along !!! Obstructions or blockages can be a major concern for folks l...

Here's my 2 cents worth. Yes, to some extent a mild fever would be common after a major surgery. The body produces a "fever" to help with the healing phase. Hubby had a major surgery ! BUT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If hubby is on tylenol, aspirin or advil, to name just a few medications, then ...

I will support all of the other posts with a quote from my old Latin teacher (YES I really am old enough to have taken Latin !!!!) "Dum spiro spero."....or some spelling close to that. WHILE I BREATHE I HOPE. You and hubby keep right on breathing and right on hoping. this forum is filled with all ki...

I wouldn't be too bent out of shape. 1. the CT tech probably should not have been quite so glib ??? 2. there are very strict "rules" about what can and can't be used on different patients based on their own case specifics....no choice in the matter. 3. kidney parameters are very very important for u...

It is probably "negotiable" to the extent that the surgeons feel comfortable with the inner plumbing and where they need to redirect things to keep you trouble free !!! I had ileostomy slightly to the right (my right) of my belly button. That is naturally where the ileum will be inside on any given ...

Hi Vancouver Eve, I tend to be more concerned with the surgery folks, just because once they find something they are the ones who actually need to do something about it. They would get to the colon thru the " back door" !!! just like the colonoscopy you had prior to your surgery ??? Flexible sigmoid...

WE need more info ???? colonoscopy and "scope'...what kind of scope ??? are they talking upper GIT endoscopy ? are they talking colonoscopy versus flexible sigmoidoscopy ???? colonoscopy with ileostomy is no problem, as all your GIT contents exit the pouch before they get to the colon....so no prep ...

For my 2 cents : epidural. Continuous and very even analgesia with no need to "top up" pain meds...it is always there. A proper placement by the anesthetist, and proper monitoring by the post -op nurses and there should be no problems. Be warned though that they will be concerned with males being ab...

Re: surgery

Hi detroitgal, Of those who did radiation, how much did the tumor shrink? I had about same size mass but lower. chemoradiation produced what is referred to as complete resolution -> we nuked the sucker good, so only scar tissue left ! How many were downstaged? If so, what chemo did you do after? did...

Hi luisetta, I will be brief because the "Stage II chemo or not" idea will generate a lot of discussion. I was hi risk Stage II. Chose Xeloda follow up, after chemoradiation and surgery. Xeloda is very "user friendly' compared to infusional chemo but needs to be what your onco wants. For me so far, ...
