Re: Erbitux-- Any good intermediate term experiences?

What do you mean, using erbitux in a clinical trial? Could you clarify? Thanks.

Re: Stivarga - hand/foot syndrome

Dani, I'm sorry this happened to you. As for the reduction to 3 pills instead of 4, I listened to a webinar where the doctor said that he usually starts with 3 a day even though the recommended dose is 4 a day. I was wondering if you could tell us about the other drugs you've been on. I haven't hear...

Re: FOR ALL ON CLINICAL TRIALS (edited name)

Dianne,
Glad to hear from you again. Believe me, you have a right to wallow for as long as you like. You've been through a lot. I hope that the exercise helps. Up until the last few weeks Eli was a pilates regular.
Many hugs to you.

Re: FOR ALL ON CLINICAL TRIALS (edited name)

Dianne, As you've written before, you've had many months of freedom from folfiri and folfox. That's a big deal. What does CEA inching up mean and was it a good indicator for you? Eli's CEA was only 8 when he was diagnosed at 3B. I suggest that you have a good talk with Dr. Powderly about all of this...

Re: FOR ALL ON CLINICAL TRIALS (edited name)

Dianne, Thanks for the update. I don't know why they wouldn't just let you stay on the trial drug since effectively that's what they've got on the other single agent trial? I thought they had once said that you could stay on the trial drug if the avastin turned into a problem? As for the sir spheres...

Re: FOR ALL ON CLINICAL TRIALS (edited name)

Vicki,
How has zaltrap been for your husband? Also, no one we've talked to has suggested that you have to do zaltrap or regorafenib before being eligible for a clinical trial.

Re: SIR SPHERES, ABLATIONS, CYPERKNIFE - OH MY !

Take a look at this study. 35% had active extrahepatic disease when they had the sir spheres: http://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20120604005808/en/Large-U.S.-Multi-Center-Study-Confirms-Safety-Efficacy My husband has lymph node, lung and liver metastases. He just had sir spheres to 80% of what wa...

Re: Yellow submarine up for air again

Cheese, Glad to hear from you. An oncologist suggested lapatinib with erbitux. There's a clinical trial at Georgetown looking at this combo in colon cancer and they have seen some good results. Here's a link: http://explore.georgetown.edu/news/?ID=64154&PageTemplateID=295. Both drugs are FDA app...

Re: News from trials: anti PD-L1 & Anti-PI3K/MEK

BMS study at U of Chicago is not restricted to lung folks but there are very few slots. When I called they already had a waiting list of 14 people and they were only given one slot. Also requires testing for PDL as does the Genentech trial to be eligible. Anyone know more about the Merck drugs and w...

Re: To Trial or Not To Trial?

A lot of the trials have decent stats. I would not reject the option until you've gone and talked to a phase 1 trial person or place. Also, we talked to an oncologist today about a trial and he had some ideas for FDA approved drugs used off label for colon folks. You never know what you'll hear if y...

Re: SIR Spheres Treatment Schedule

Just got back with my husband from a plane trip. The new total body scanners that are round use radio waves and it's no problem going in them after sir spheres. He went in and he just had the spheres done almost two weeks ago. FYI.

Re: SIR Spheres Treatment Schedule

My husband has sir spheres done. The mapping was done on one Tuesday and the next Tuesday he had the procedure. He went in for the spheres at 10 and we left the hospital around 2:30 pm. Some soreness around the incision for a few days and fatigue but otherwise he's been okay. He got a cold the secon...

Re: FOR ALL ON CLINICAL TRIALS (edited name)

Eli was on a trial at Sarah Cannon and he had not done regorafenib. He actually hadn't quite failed folfox a second time around but did have such a bad reaction that they stopped giving it to him and that was fine. You don't have to do zaltrap or regorafenib. Often a trial will just say that you had...
