Re: Twilight sleep or Propoful for Colonoscopy?

On the dental work, I've had lots of fillings and crowns done and I don't get any painkillers for those procedures. On my first root canal, I asked the doctor if he could do it without the pain killers. He was incredibly nervous about it but we tried it out. It quickly became obvious to me that thi...

mucus is was coming out my poop shoot when i had bowel movements. Hey, I am okay with that lol. I'm all about talking about BM's lately. Shape, sizes, rashes, mucus. I had to give my mom an anema prep and inject KY Jelly up her rectum prior to her MRI scan. I love her and I will do anything for her...

Re: Any luck with Neoadjuvant chemo/radiation therapy Stage 3 Rectal Cancer?

I just had a brief conversation yesterday with the medical oncologist about my final pathology report. Bear in mind MRI put my growth at 5-6 cm before treatment began. The final report put the growth at less than 0.5 cm. That is super awesome news! My mother just like you had 6 cm prior to tx. Now,...

Re: Twilight sleep or Propoful for Colonoscopy?

Excerpt: Then, there are the significant anatomical differences between the male and female colon. For example, it takes me three times longer to do a colonoscopy on a woman than a man. That’s because the female colon is 10 cm longer and much like a slinky- all tangled up with lots of redundancy. B...

Re: One thing I learned/for caregivers

Cindy, I am so sorry for the loss of you hubby. I am a caregiver to my 77 year old mother who has Stage 3A rectal cancer. I cried my eyes out when the GI told me it was cancer and it didn't look good. I was so upset that he told me right away and how he thought she would end up with a colostomy bag....

Re: Any luck with Neoadjuvant chemo/radiation therapy Stage 3 Rectal Cancer?

The surgeon said at first they couldn't find the growth, and eventually did. He said it shrunk that much it was difficult to detect. So it went from 5-6 cm easy to see to barely detectable This is super amazing. When I worked in the Radiation Oncology department over 15 years ago, Rectal cancer was...

Twilight sleep or Propofol, for Colonoscopy?

Hi all! I finally met my G.I. today and went over the Colonoscopy procedure. Keep in mind, that I really had to fight hard to get this GI referral as my general dr. didn't feel that it was necessary at my age. I went in for a 2nd opinion, and after talking to that dr, he finally approved it thank go...

Re: Picking a surgeon

I know they have some top colorectal surgeons. I searched and searched and reviewed and talked to patients of the doctor's before I found the best colorectal surgeon. I even had to switch my mom's insurance just to see him. Even though, his office and hospital is about one hour from our home, it wa...

Re: Is colon cancer preventable if caught early?

I really wish they would change the recommended age to at least 30. There are so many of us that are so young getting this disease and catching it early is key. my kids are doomed for lots of colonoscopies throughout their lifetime, but I don't want them or anyone else to go through what we all hav...

obsessive Googling disorder (OGD) Yes, that is me. I got my mom to try "Turmeric" she was very scared of it until I was reading to her about how it's great for inflammation and cancer. I know the MD's say, don't try something new, but I really love the way it makes me feel. We will talk t...
