Re: New Member, Introducing Myself

Has anyone talked to you about staging? If all this happened in February I would think you'd really want to know what you're facing before now. Good news is if chemo is not needed you're likely in an early stage. I was diagnosed March 16 and when straight from mycolonoscopy to ct for staging. So, we...

Sorry to hear about all your shitty symptoms. I appreciate you taking the time to chronicle your journey for those of us facing the same thing in the near future.

Re: Need advice

That sounds like a question you should ask your doctor (and I know that's not a helpful answer). Have you had a cr or mri? I'd would be (and was) pretty much nonfunctional until I had initial scans and staging and had a plan in place. I could never wait over two months before getting started. I coul...

Re: I need a little hope

Currently in Houston at MD Anderson. They are starting me on Folfox on Wednesday. Just took new scans yesterday and waiting to head back about the results. Anyone with a 5-FU pump know if you are able to detach yourself or do you have to go back to the hospital after the 46 hours? They can train yo...

Re: I heart FOLFOX

So it's now official, I am in love with FOLFOX. Mid-July scans indicated 80% regression of tumor with six cycles pre-adjuvant FOLFOX. Post-surgery biopsy upgraded its effectiveness to complete pathological response. Post-surgery chemo has been cancelled. I was on the fence about enrolling in the PRO...

Re: Robotic Surgery

Biopsy came back and I had a complete pathological response to preadjuvant chemo. Since rounds of FOLFOX completely destroyed the tumor. 41 nodes all negative. I am officially NED and require no further chemotherapy. :)

Re: Reversal Journal -- just had the surgery this morning.

What was the pain level like compared to the resection? I would hope it would be a lot less, as they're not respecting anything.

Re: Robotic Surgery

Thanks all - I'm home now. Total time in the hospital was a little over 48 hours. I'm still sore but it's improving. My family, who spoke to the surgeon while I was recovering, said I looked great and further chemo was likely unnecessary. The only conclusion I can draw is they think I'm stage two af...

Re: Starting Treatment soon-have some ?

I was on FOLFOX so your routine might be different but most people feel the worst around days 3-5 after infusion and are at their "best" the last days before the next cycle. I would set a schedule where the wedding is on an off" weekend and you are a few days from the next cycle. I'd ...

Re: Reversal Journal -- just had the surgery this morning.

Haven't passed anything yet, (morning here at hospital) but I feel it coming soon. I was only liquid diet yesterday. Feel decent, stomach hurts a little bit, but that is more hunger than anything else. I just went for my morning walk. Thank you for the gum suggestion, I will see if someone here has...

Re: I've made it!

Congrats! I remember thinking I couldn't possibly make it through 12 rounds. I did six before surgery and know I can do six more if needs be.

Re: Robotic Surgery

Went through training with the WOCN and will make my first bag change Friday at MDAnderson. The post-op care hear has been wonderful. I'm feeling much better than I did just a few hours ago although it feels like someone hit me in the stomach with a hammer. The pain meds help with that.

Re: Reversal Journal -- just had the surgery this morning.

Thanks for documenting your reversal. I got an unexpected ostomy during surgery last night and will have the reversal done some time between six weeks and four months.

Re: Robotic Surgery

No but I'm very active and do walk/run regularly. Doc explained that abs are contracted over and over again during surgery so there's soreness mixed in with the trauma.

Just had some breakfast- toast, banana and an egg - and feel much better after 48 hours with nothing.
