Re: liver focal lesion

Dear all, Just a brief update. The CEA went up to 7 from 2.8 two months back. And the ultrasound did not find any lesions. The plan is to repeat both CEA and ultrasound in a month. I don't know whether CEA level rise may be due to 2 rounds of Xeloda. Our CEA level is actually a mystery to me. Almost...

Re: liver focal lesion

Daisy - Ask your onc about having a PET scan. My Pete had a suspicious but unclear spot (liver) on his CT scan in July. Onc did a Pet Scan in August which lit up as probably a met. Went to Sloan, repeat tests and yes it was a met. Met grew from a speck in July to 1.8 CM in October. He had surgery i...

Re: liver focal lesion

Dear Daisy, Cysts look different from mets, I would not worry about it. As for the liver remember that even in the worst case (that probably won't be) one single little met can be easily resected leaving your morher free. You have no reason for panic, I really understand your anxiety but try not to...

Re: liver focal lesion

Dear zx10guy, I am so touched by your reply. It was full of information. Indeed I found some terms from your reports that I came across in our CT description. I was not expecting so much from the first scan, so I was broke to pieces. By the way, we did not have CT of abdomen before surgery, only MRI...

Ehut wrote:There are probably exceptions, but I believe mets are usually round or oval with smooth edges. If it has uneven edges that is probably why they suspect hemagioma instead.

Thanks, Ehut!

We will have ultrasound check this week, we'll proceed from there. I appreciate your feedback, it means a lot!

Re: liver focal lesion

Daisy, I don't know anything about liver lesions, but I want to tell you how sorry I am that the CT-scan revealed these. Hopefully, it is not cancer. Lots of prayers are being sent your way. Val*pal, thank you! It is so important to know there is someone out there who understands! I have nobody to ...

liver focal lesion

Dear all, I don't even know how to put it, because still in panic. I would really appreciate any advice and support. My mom had surgery 3 months ago, right hemicolectomy, T3 (or T4) N0M0, CEA was 23,76 before surgery, 2,82 one month after surgery. She started Xeloda, a bit late (2 months after surge...

I looked it up, too, it's for brain tumours. The one in Russia is for several types, including colon cancer. Just hope that cure comes soon in any form.

Re: Russia to test cancer vaccine

I found some more info in English http://en.itar-tass.com/russia/706213 - it's from the end of last year and seems to be about the same research. And I also emailed today to the head of the research, we'll see if he replies. I just asked where to track progress of the research and wished his team go...

Re: Russia to test cancer vaccine

Hi, Nickmark59 I am from Russia, so I briefly looked the news up. Indeed, there is a trial to be started this year with 60 patients chosen locally. Right now I am on my iPhone, later on I will try to do more research and find out more details. So far I understand that they take patient cells and som...

Re: Prayers and Possible Insight Requested for DH

He's receiving excellent care, and I think he's relieved to be in the hospital where they can hopefully figure out what is causing the diarrhea. This morning the doc said they suspect a gastric bacterial infection, and they are doing a culture to see what type so that they can give him the appropri...

Re: Stage 2 colon cancer treatment standard after surgery

Our stories seem very similar. My hemoglobins were 67 when the red flag came up for me. T3N0M0, 2 masses in right colon. There was lots of discussion about chemo or no. I chose to do 8 rounds of xeloda (2 weeks on, 1 week off). Repeat colonoscopies ever year and repeat chest/abdo/pelvis CT every ye...

Re: Stage 2 colon cancer treatment standard after surgery

Welcome! I do have a question for you, based on your age. Is there a family history of colon or uterine cancer? I was diagnosed at age 43 as stage 2A, with 54 negative lymph nodes. I had right-sided cancer and my tumor was also poorly differentiated. I began chemo, but opted out after three rounds ...

Re: Prayers and Possible Insight Requested for DH

Dear Val*Pal, I pray for Danny so he gets better soon. It is good to know that he is in good hands, with people taking care of him. While he feels bad, it is always better to be in the hospital, where help will come immediately. Hope the hospital rooms and beds are comfortable at least, and hope the...

Re: First polyp age 37 in Denver

Hi, Dever37. Just want to say that my mom had her ascending colon removed (actually they removed half of the entire colon - the surgery is right hemicolectomy) a month ago due to a much larger polyp (about size of a fist), with positive biopsy from the very beginning. I believe some time ago it was ...
