Dear all, I tried to search for anyone with keloid scars here, and it seems these can be removed? My mom has had a few small ones, but her surgery scar is about 30 cm long and 1-1.5 cm wide, bright red and thick. Her surgery was in Dec 2013. Her suture was not healing well, too. Now sometimes she co...
Dear raym, Good luck on the trial, and you do look very good on that beach picture :) wanted to add about low iron/Hb - in Russia they recommend pomegranate juice, liver (not everyone likes it, though) and a mix of dried prunes, apricots, raisins and walnuts with honey - you need to mince it all and...
Hey, Marco! Just sent a postcard to you from Russia. Russian post is very slow, it usually takes forever, so please hang on there! positive thoughts and best wishes your way!
I am so sorry and sad. You were such a great caregiver to your dear husband. We say here - time heals. I hope your pain caused by this unfair loss will go as soon as possible. Take care. Hugs and love to you and family.
Dear Michelle, I am not the most experienced person here and also a caregiver. I can imagine how scared you are. I'd recommend to stay away from Google now, even though it's difficult. Usually when a mass is found in a colon, it is biopsied, though the doc is usually able to tell whether it is cance...
AnneCaroline, my mom had an open surgery and was also very scared. She has a big scar on her belly now. Before the surgery they gave her a shot in her arm, and she was not scared to go into the surgery room, but I walked her to the door of it and was so frightened. In the end the surgery went well, ...
Raeanne, it's good to know your dad is taken care of. ICU is well equipped and has experts working there. They will do their best to make your dad feel better. Good luck to him and you. Try to get some rest too. Time after surgery is worst, I know :-( My mom spent 24 hours in ICU after surgery, I co...
Vilca, I think it's about a bird flying inside the house - but there is always a scientific explanation to everything, really. By the way, day before my mom's surgery a bat (!) flew into the hospital corridor on our floor! In December! How crazy is that??? We were on the top floor, maybe the bats li...
Raeanne, I hope your dad will be ok! 8 hours that's so long. I am also a daughter (34) to mom (57), I totally understand your concerns. Surgery is an important step forward. Hope his pain goes away. You are indeed a great caregiver!
Dear Val*pal, I just wanted to say I am so sorry about what's happening. Your DH is in my thoughts and prayers. Regarding his being in denial...well, all people are different. I think he realizes how serious his condition is, but maybe that's some kind of his psychological defense - not asking quest...
My mom had poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma and high CEA. Even though poorly diff. tends to produce less CEA - I read it in several sources. But what is interesting to me: well diff. is better prognosis, but if it produces high CEA, high CEA is worse prognosis. So many uncertainties still.
Diane, I am glad it went without complications. was the noise from the machine really loud or that weird music was still louder? it's a pity you have to wait for the results now, but wish you all the best and good luck!
dianetavegia, yes, it takes much longer, I think the abdominal one was for around 30 minutes. But there is ventilation inside the tube, by the way, some fresh air flow. I can imagine your anxiety. We have another ultrasound (which is actually the standard here for follow-ups, so weird) in two weeks,...
Dear dianetavegia, Are you scared of doing a new type of test? I think you should not be. MRI is a type of device that looks like a tube, it may be a concern, if you have problems with confined spaces. They may also administer a dye, and it is different type, should not cause allergy. So while you a...
