Re: Weight Gain, Belly

Building fluid in the abdomen might be a sign of surgical complications but if it is building later weeks, months from surgery can be a sign of peri mets. I would watch any fluid very carefully.

Re: chemo for life no surgery !

I would go to MSKK for the second opinion. I did it for myself and had to cross the ocean to do so:) I believe in extensive genetic testing of primary and mets. I did it for myself. CARIS did also prediction how the tumors will respond for particular chemo meds. According to several studies I went t...

Re: Biomarker Tests on Tumor Tissue - What should I request?

I think you should discuss with your oncologist the positive aortal margin. I would send tumor tissue to foundation one or car is to check it for mutations. Do you know your kras, nras, braf status?

Re: When to tell children your dying?

Cherie, I have 6 years old twins. I try to show and tell my kids every day how much I love them. I tell them that my love is eternal, wherever I am/ I will be still will love them. I would write and record as much about myself as I possibly could so they would know me better when they grow older. I ...

Re: LDLT (Living Donor Liver Transplant)-- Feasible Option or Pipe Dream?

Did you consult MSKK for HAI pump? Maybe this an option for your mom if her disease is mostly in the liver and if her liver enzymes are within/close to normal range. Even extensive liver disease still can be cured by pump. It is easier option than transplant.

Re: New member

I am oversensitive to Atropin (given to avoid cramping during infusion) and have constipation for 2-3 days than run-to the can begins :) This Monday is my last FOLFIRINOX cycle. I try to live relatively normal life. I pray, walk 6 miles every morning without rain, research crc, clean, cook, do homew...

Re: LDLT (Living Donor Liver Transplant)-- Feasible Option or Pipe Dream?

I think the shortage of organs is the reason which makes liver transplantation to metastatic cancer patients rare. However there was a Norwegian study (SECA) in which crc patients clearly benefited from transplantation. 56% of the patients with transplanted liver lived over 5 years. They might have ...

Re: LDLT (Living Donor Liver Transplant)-- Feasible Option or Pipe Dream?

Norwegian study: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23360920 Overall Survival exceeds by far reported outcome for chemotherapy , which is the only treatment option available for this patient group. Furthermore, OS is comparable with liver resection for resectable CLMs and survival after repeat liver...

Re: New member

Yes. I searched for options for KRAS-wild and quadraple negative tumors after I was diagnosed . I knew Avastin by brand name and forgot the international name. I changed my post so I will not mislead anybody. FOLFOXIRI looks promising as first line of treatment but it is toxic.

Re: Lung met but no liver mets - is that possible?

Rectal cancer can unfortunately by-pass liver and get to the lungs. The rectum has three segments: an upper, a middle, and a lower. Distal rectal tumors may easily metastasize initially to the lungs because the inferior rectal vein drains into the inferior vena cava (systemic circulation), bypassing...

Re: New member

Jim, I am not fun of Irinotecan , either. I hate it. It is part of FolfoxIRI and FolfIRI as well. The only thing is that it is safer for perpheral nerves than Oxaliplatin. I am concern about permanent neuropathy. As for now, my neuropathy keeps going away after 2-4 days after the treatment but... I...
