Re: Xeloda Regimens - looking for stats on 1 week on 1 off regimen

I couldn't handle 14 straight days of xeloda. It got so bad that I had to crawl on my hands and knees to go to the bathroom at night. I had to get crutches and bandage myself so heavily that I looked like a mummy or a civil war veteran. I liked the 5 days on / 2 days off regimen much better & di...

Fabulous news, Eric. Love to see you taking chemo & carrying on with life. It can be done! And it's easier when people show us how.

Re: Extreme Nausea/constipation with Xeloda/Oxoliplatin normal?

As it happens, I'm on oxaliplatin and xeloda right now, and I get intense nausea & constipation as well. The only solution to the nausea is high-end anti-nausea drugs: emend & aloxi. I'd recommend asking (begging) for those. I doubt a 20% reduction will be enough to reduce the nausea by itse...

Re: Recommendations for Cancer Clinics in Midwest

I was diagnosed almost eight years ago at 41 with stage 4 cc and have been treated all along at the Cleveland Clinic. Chemo, surgeries, the works.

I'd be happy to answer specific questions. Best wishes to you.

Re: Am I Supplementing with too Much Vitamin D?

FWIW, 5000/ day works for me. I've been supplementing with 5000 / day for years - it keeps me in the normal range, usually a little into the top half.

I stopped taking decadron (in any amount) years ago. For me it does much more harm than good.

Re: A Rare Personal Post from DK37 - Treatment Plan Update

Thanks for the update! For what it's worth, I think you're doing the smart move. Hopefully irinotecan won't be too bad by itself, and when the time comes to go for the home run ball, you'll have put the count more in your favor: better clinical trial data & more options. Good luck with this drug...

Not a big break, just postponing one treatment by one week.

I do that every time. I talked my onc. into switching to an every-three-weeks infusion schedule, and it's made life a lot more tolerable & worth living.

Shave & a haircut with Erbitux?

This is a question for cetuximobsters who get the rash.

Do you shave?

I'm in rash zone grade 2, with a week of stubble and a public thing to do in two days, and I can't decide whether to go for it.

I'd be grateful for any experiences, tips, tricks, or advice you may have.

Re: New here....trying to understand

Hi there, I was diagnosed stage 4 in 2008. Your friend has several chemo options left to try, and if any of them work, it could buy time, and maybe even a lot of it. Meanwhile, new therapies are in development, from interventional radiology to immunotherapy & more. There are a lot of people on t...

Re: Please don't call to tell me your friend died from CC

I ran into a distant acquaintance in a big-box store a couple of days ago.

He instantly asked me for my latest medical news.

There was a 0% chance that he was concerned about me, a 100% chance that he wanted a juicy story to tell. The worse my news, the better for him.

Made me sick.
