Re: New here..just wanted to say hi!

Welcome to the board, but sorry you have found yourself here. I do not post a lot but have learned a lot from lurking. I was also eager but nervous to start chemo. I just figured the sooner I got started the sooner I could be done! It also felt good to have an action plan and to be doing something t...

Re: Management of oxaliplatin-induced peripheral neuropathy

My oncologist did not usually give the cal/mag during folfox infusion. I asked for it, and even though they didn't think it would necessarily benefit me (due to the studies mentioned above), they agreed to the cal/mag. I did spend more time in the chair but I wasn't in a hurry and I was willing to g...

Re: chemo brain

For me, chemo brain improved a lot after I finished chemo. It is no longer something I notice on a daily basis. Though, I do think it has persisted a bit. I am usually very good at mental math but recently while I was shopping I was really struggling with figuring out the sale price of an item in my...

Re: FOLFOX and hair loss

I have made it through 4 rounds of folfox with 20% reduction on #4. My thick beautiful long blond hair has fallen out like crazy. I would say I have 50% or less left. My husband pointed out I have bald spots now; (of course that made me cry). I am wondering whether to shave the head or savor the 50...

Re: Results - A flat polyp

Glad to hear everything looks good. My EMR was aborted when the polyp didn't lift so I cannot speak to the recovery. I tried to read up on the procedure ahead of time and went to my appointment armed with a list of questions. I live in a mid size city and had to travel to the big city 1.5 hours away...

Re: Results - A flat polyp

I had a large sessile polyp that was found during a flexible sigmoidoscopy. Initial biopsy results came back as precancerous (not cancer) and so I opted to have it removed via endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR). During the procedure, when injected with saline, some of my polyp had "questionable...

Re: Ezra Caldwell

I followed his blog and was very saddened to learn of his passing. He seemed to have so much enthusiasm for all his projects and for life. In case you haven't seen it, I was very moved by this short documentary about him. http://laughingsquid.com/the-bike-maker-short-film-about-harlem-bike-builder-e...

Re: Guest Blog - "Wendy's Story - A Mother Lost"

My mother died when I was almost 4 and no one really talked about her. Over the years I have learned some things about her but in retrospect I really do wish that people would have been more open about sharing information. When I was diagnosed with cancer last summer I asked my husband to tell my ch...

Re: Having babies after chemo

She recommended that I see a high risk OB/GYN before hand for more info, and both she and my surgeon said I should def have a c-section. I'm scheduled a CT right before it's time for us to start trying. I agonized over the decision for awhile, but finally decided that this is what I want to do and ...

Re: Having babies after chemo

I would suggest you/your spouse discuss this with his doctor. There is some info for men here: http://www.fertilehope.org/learn-more/cancer-and-fertility-info/faqs-men.cfm#q47 Prior to finding out I had cancer we were planning on trying for a 2nd child. I am female, and my oncologist has told me I n...
