Thank you Tom for all your have done for so many, including myself, on this journey. May God Bless you and all your family. You created a legacy that continue to impact others for ever. Peace, Bob
Yes!!!! That is what I love to hear. Thank you so much for sharing. I am on my 32 round of chemo give or take for lung mets. I would write more but and going out and bang a 20 mile bike ride. Blessings and Gratefulness. Bob
CEA varies among individuals. For some it is an effective biomarker, for other it is not. Myself, I have never had an abnormal CEA yet had a tumor in my right colon and lung mets. There is another marker that is sometimes used called a CA 19-9. Hope this helps. B
Just curious if you are in the US? I ask because I too have a 4-5 lung mets and have never been offered any treatment other than standard chemo and now Erbitux. Is ablation not as well received in the US? Should I ask my Onc why it hasn't been mentioned? Yes, I am in the US. Cryoablation is a speci...
What's the difference between cryoablation and RFA? Congrats on getting those suckers evicted! Cryoablation is a freeze-thaw-freeze process, As they run you in and out of a ct scanner they can see the ice ball surround and exceed the margins of the lesion. RFA uses radio-frequency waves which gener...
stevieb wrote:I just got an NED scan result from MDA! I had a lung cryoablation at the end of May on one small nodule and am still NED! Continuing on Celebrex, Xeloda, and Avastin for 3 months and scan again! Happy Dance!!!!
If clear in three months do you plan on continuing with chemo?
I have a marked increase in arthritis since chemo. Exercise, low inflammatory diet and glucosimine help. Be careful what you tell yourself about your arthritis. It can be managed.
Great news! I too am trying to get off the diabetes protocol. I work out 6 days a week, A1C is 6.4. Your story is inspiration to me. I still need to drop 40 lbs though. Bob
Thank you for the thoughts and prayers. Both those posted and those held privately. The procedure went well they found two spots and this makes five done by cryoablation. Stayed overnight, chest tube was much more gentle compared to last time. One spot was close to my heart. Peace and healing to all...
I also wonder if quality of life issues are the driving factor in the statement of 'dormancy" in an 86 year old in addition to what CRguy mentioned. Chemo and radiation at that age would radically change current functioning quickly. Oncs see enough suffering- the cost benefit curve is skewed un...
Dear Peeps of the crc world- I am off to my cryoablation tomorrow and God willing will be NED. I had three spots done in May and one tomorrow. I am hoping to not have a another pneumothorax nor being strung up in restraints for 7 hours in a ct scanner like before. The research on cryoablation for co...
Thanks for the question, Maia. He doesn't take metformin and is controlling his diabetes with diet. He takes supplements that possibly could intervene on glucose uptake. I will definitely look into this as a potential cause. I did some reading on the term hypermetabolic focus and it appears that it...
