Re: What is my best option to me

I got a call from MSKCC today and was told that Dr Kemeny treat patients with only liver involvement. Since I have a spot on SPINE although it has become "almost inconspicuous", I do not qualify for her HAI treatments. So I think the best option is to continue my current treatment without ...

I faxed all required documents to MSKCC yesterday. I expect to hear from MSKCC today or tomorrow about whether Dr Kemeny will see me. Thanks.

What is my best option to me

Hi All, Long time no see! I I'd like to receive your feedback about what option of future treatment I should take. A year ago, a PET/CT scan showed I have at least 8 spots in both left and right lobes of the liver; the biggest one was 1.3cm x 2.4cm. There was also a spot on my spine. I have complete...

Re: Needle biopsy spreads cancer?

Oncologists are usually reluctant to give chemotherapy or other treatments in the absence of real proof that the colon cancer has been metastatic to the liver . Therefore It is common the Onc. wants to have a liver biopsy done. When I faced the situation I was as scared as you do. Before my liver bi...

Re: Was seen by two oncologists and their treatment plans

Thank you all for the valuable advises. I will talk to the oncs and try to skip the liver biopsy. The reason both onc's want to have a liver biopsy is that I have early stage of liver Cirrhosis and so I am in higher risk of getting primary liver cancer (Hepatoma); by orderingg a biopsy the doctors w...

Was seen by two oncologists and their treatment plans

Hi All, I visited two oncologists today and yesterday, respectively. The treatment plan of onc 1 (in a local hospital) is 1. Have a liver biopsy 2. Start treatment in two weeks using Folfiri. The treatment plan of onc 2 (in a major cancer center in Boston) 1. Have a liver biopsy 2. Start treatment p...

Re: Rising CEA and Met to liver ...

Hi All, Thank you all for your comments to my previous message. I had a PET scan yesterday and MRI scan today. Sadly, both reports indicate liver met. The biggest liver met tumor measures 2.4cm x 4.8cm while the ultrasound scan of last Aug did not show any thing. The cancer developed so quickly with...

Rising CEA and scared

Hi All, I got phone call today from my Oncologist. He told me the blood work of last week indicated my CEA level is 50 (my pre-surgery level was 4). I will be scheduled to have a PET scan asap. I am kind of scared: either local recurrence or distanced new tumor is bad. Moreover, I have liver Cirrhos...

Very successful LAR: no staples, no temp ileo and . . .

Hi All, Thank you all for your replies to my previous messages and encouragement. I successfully had my LAR done on Wed Mar 7 and left hospital for home at 10am Sun Mar 11. That is, I had stayed in a hospital bed for less than 4 full-days after the surgery. The surgery was very successful: no staple...
