Re: Rectal Bleeding after SBRT Radiation

I forgot to say I am around 5 months out of SBRT Ok that’s definitely too long to be ‘normal’ post radio bleeding. Could be tumour bleeding, radiation-induced colitis, or another injury from radiotherapy. I’d suggest giving your rad onc or oncologist a call, and if it’s anything more than modest (s...

Re: Rectal Bleeding after SBRT Radiation

Hi Jumpman, Buttblood sure is distressing! How far out of SBRT are you now? Bright or dark/dried? And would you say there’s more than a tablespoon at a time? In the bowl or just on the paper? Could potentially be the result of inflammation/colitis from the radiation, and/or tumour damage and bleedin...

Re: MSS + TMB-High Immunotherapy

Of course the bot/bal trial is randomised too, including a rego/Lonsurf control (which I wouldn’t normally suggest doing), so it’s not a guaranteed novel treatment - may want a plan B for this case anyway. Hey Rob! Hope you’re ok and Folfiri still treating you relatively well. Just wanted to touch ...

I really need to get up to speed with the terminology of trials. Does randomised trial mean t...

Re: MSS + TMB-High Immunotherapy

My instinct is telling me to try the trial first off, as long as it doesn’t make him unable to try keytruda later… I don’t know the bot/bal data well, but presuming it looks promising then then this is my instinct too. The window to qualify for trials can be narrow, and if they’re encouraging it no...

Re: Loose stools

I can eat something and within MINUTES I have diarrhea. How can food travel that fast? How can I slow down my stomach to act normal? Thank you I think eating triggers the entire GI track Correct, known as the gastrocolic reflex. It’s not the same food you’ve eaten coming out - your digestion is mov...

Re: Neuropathy from FOLFOX?

I've noticed I've become a hot tea drinker since starting Folfox. Don't like the tingly feeling in the mouth when the drink is lukewarm, so I have switched to hot Green/Spearmint tea combos plus xylitol sweetener. Took a one quart thermos full of green tea to the last chemo session and guzzled almo...

Re: Neuropathy from FOLFOX?

Quite right Peregrine. My delayed neuropathy (feet only) took about 2 months to come on after stopping oxaliplatin, but it did fully resolve - taking about 9-12 months to do so. That was after 8 full dose cycles of oxaliplatin.

Re: Neuropathy from FOLFOX?

Very common to have this acute neuropathy starting around where you are in the process. The main thing will be whether it resolves before the next cycle. If so, there is a good chance of it remaining temporary only and they continue with the dose. However if it doesn’t fully resolve between cycles, ...

Re: Gee it’s quiet here huh…

Claudine, Sorry to hear about your husband's nausea on Lonsurf/Avastin. That's tough. A cancer friend of mine says Aprepitant really helps her with chemo nausea, although she is not on Lonsurf/Avastin. Maybe this medication could help your husband's nausea and vomiting. Aprepitant is great. Even mo...

Re: Gee it’s quiet here huh…

Hey rob, how are you responding to the treatment? Any shrinkage? How about qol while on continuous chemo? Happy new year Hi Markdale, happy new year! I’m just about to start on the 2nd three-weekly cycle, so haven’t done any new imaging yet but will get some bloods tomorrow which will hopefully be ...

Re: Gee it’s quiet here huh…

That’s great news about the CEA Claudine! Lonsurf is indeed a rough drug, but it does anecdotally seem to be doing a lot better recently with Avastin. I think dynamic dosing is super important with these later lines where it’s all about sustainability - if he’s responding well now then that may also...

Best news of the year!

I eat a lot of tomato soup on chemo; I’d been telling myself the lycopene was good so I like this evidence.
