Re: New Poster-wife's elevated liver enzymes

I'm so glad her CT scan was clear. My enzymes went up and we discovered I had a gall bladder full of stones. We tried to wait out my 12 treatments, but I had 2 attacks in one day and had to have my gall bladder out after only 4 chemo sessions. I'm so glad that's over with! My liver enzymes dropped t...

Re: ASCO, May 2009

I would think the 'age' limits are misleading because there are 40 year olds with other health concerns vs someone like myself, age 58 and in perfect health. I have a chemo buddy who is years younger than me and yet looks mid 70's. Those percentages can be very misleading. I asked my math teacher hu...

Re: exercise

I had my 6th Folfox treatment last week and this is my good week. I find I can walk 2 - 3 miles a day plus get all my housework done with no problem on my non chemo week. The few days after disconnect from the pump are a different story. We walk, but it might be around Wal-Mart with me holding on to...

Re: Audio/video request for physically active survivors

Deborah, I think this is wonderful! I was only dx'd in Jan. and am halfway through chemo but I walk 2 plus miles every day and plan on adding more exercises, including Jazzercise, when I complete my chemo. I'm 58 and had become a horrible couch potato over the last 8 or so years. Wishing you great s...

Re: What foods bother you?

I just had my gall bladder out 6 weeks ago yesterday and was warned I'd have looser stools or diarrhea. Also was told many foods that cause GB attacks won't process well. I have NONE of those issues. In fact, since my gb had caused constipation, I'm quite happy with my results. I'm eating the Medite...

Re: PET Scan results/tumor death

Mona, I'm so happy to hear all these great reports! I've seen other people post that liver tumors shrunk away or down to very tiny sizes pre surgery. I remember someone saying doctor found 'necrosis' which is the dead tumor you're talking about. Give Dad my best and tell him I'm still praying for hi...

Re: Seussfan Update

Seussfan, I'm sorry to hear about the breast cancer and am praying that it has NOT spread to the nodes so you won't need chemo or radiation. They may offer you Tamoxifien and / or another drug. My mother had breast cancer that had spread to her lymph nodes when she was 49. No chemo for her, just Tam...

UPDATED: Oxi rash question

The P/A and nurse had not told the doctor about my reaction! He quickly found the P/A and questioned her and others who had seem my rash. The fidgety nurse was not at work. Doctor gave me Benadryl BEFORE treatment today. He says some people break out and it never goes any farther. Anyhow, 10-15 minu...

Re: Looking for sponsors for the 2010 Colondar!

Is it too late for someone to apply as a model? I have a 33 year old friend who was dx'd 4 years ago and is NED. She's cute as a button, too, and super upbeat! GREAT smile!

Re: Oxi rash question

Thanks! Here's the thing, I had a different nurse twice. Both times she has adjusted my speed and I've had some reactions. Last chemo, she pushed the buttons on 5 separate visits to my chair. I asked her if there was a problem and she said 'Ideally, these should finish at the same time'. After her l...

Re: Oxi rash question

Thanks y'all. Tomorrow is my 6th chemo out of 12 and I'll admit I'm worried a bit. My husband goes with me and we both plan to make a stink. I know for sure this was a reaction to the oxi!

If doctor stops the oxi, does that seriously affect any outcome of the 'mop up' chemo?

Re: Oxi rash question

My onc said no supplements such as herbal remedies, etc. but he said Centrum Silver is fine. I just switched to the ultra two days ago because it has more calcium and D3.

Thanks tho!

I should have said the rash is bright pink to red.

UPDATE, See my newest: Oxi rash question

During my 5th infusion of chemo I noticed a splotchy rash that moved round my trunk, neck and up into my hairline. It didn't itch and wasn't raised. Also, my throat seemed to close up more than it had with the first four treatments. My doctor had left for the day and his physician's assistant ordere...
