Re: Did you travel during treatment?

Im glad your leaning torwards going. I meant to ask you how your chemo was going. MSK changed mine from capox to Folfox. They are now telling my doctors here in Illinois what to do to proceed. I have to start chemo Monday. Not looking forward to it TBH. Do you find your side effects easy to control ...

I think you should go! If you feel well enough you should go.

Re: I got second opinions- HAI pump, HIPEC, and now decisions

I would ask to see how far Chemo can take you. Can it get you to the point both surgeons agree you are resectable.

Re: Hospitals that install HAI pump?

Thanks for the update. Sounds promising! Did you talk at all about the pump getting filled at NW to cut back on all the travel required? Asking selfishly as it would be tough for me to manage that much travel... Yes I did ask, and its not selfish at all Gina. So they said they have done it with num...

Re: Hospitals that install HAI pump?

I had my appointment today at MSK, was told by Dr.Kemeny to go back home and start Folfox by next week. She wants be back on 12/18 for scans and a likely surgery. She wants to see if I can get to a partial resection after 3 rounds of FolFox. And then get the pump. If I cant im guessing im just gonna...

Re: Hospitals that install HAI pump?

I’ve been lurking around on Colon town for a week or so. Lots of good info over there. Also another great Facebook group is Liver mets from CRC. Lots of people with the pump on those groups. You get to see that this pump has helped a lot of people but it has also hurt some people as well. A couple o...

Re: Hospitals that install HAI pump?

My doctor was out this week but I got this answer back when I inquired about the pump: "I discussed this with Dr. Stein. She said that we do have the option for HAI pump, and you would have to see a surgeon for consultation to determine if the pump would be safe to insert and effective for you...

Re: Hospitals that install HAI pump?

If you can get in with Dr. Kemeny, do it despite the distance. My husband has been in her care 2.5 years and we meet patients from all over the country every time we go. Best of luck and keep us posted. So my latest update is im flying to NewYork on 11/7 to meet with her to discuss HAI pump. They a...

Re: Genome testing is back and looks really bad

So i also tested positive for the TP53 protien. My ONC wants me to see a geneticist to be tested for some disease called li-frameni disease. Also i am mss stable as well. Try not to fret to much as A lot of the studies they have done on some of these are controversial.

Re: Hospitals that install HAI pump?

As someone who had the Codman pump for five years, I asked for it to be removed, I find it odd that it was allowed to be decommissioned. It’s clearly a well designed device that was successfully used for decades. It requires no batteries and only needed maintenance once every three months. With the...

Re: Hospitals that install HAI pump?

Yes, KRAS wild means you do not have the KRAS mutation. Nice, so maybe i can get in that trial! I am waiting for Kemeny’s nurse to call me back to set up my appointment. My ONC just sent her all my records. I can’t wait to get in to see her. Im hoping they can figure out how to give me a resection ...

Re: Hospitals that install HAI pump?

I reread the original post and see that you were looking for something closer to Chicago so MGH wouldn't really help (outside of slightly less traffic). I only found out when I did a search on Mass General Hospital and Hepatic Arterial Pump and found the page. It may be that a similar search for ho...

Re: Hospitals that install HAI pump?

Cartech, do you know your KRAS mutation? If you are KRAS wild, you may be able to get into Dr Kemeny's clinical trial, which uses the Codman pump and only has to be serviced every six weeks. Did they say anything about that when you called them? So I have no kras, ras,or braf mutations of any kind. ...

Re: Hospitals that install HAI pump?

My mother has the old pump. Yes, msk is now doing Medtronic. I do know that it needs to be serviced more often than what my mom has but it works. It still gets FUDR into the liver. Wow thats Quite a signiture line you have for her! She seems like a strong lady to kick Cancers ass that many times. T...
