Re: O/T DH Lymphoma- No TRANSPLANT

Bev,

Thanks for the update. Sending you all big hugs and positive energy to get through the coming months. I hope Steve manages to retain his quality of life and that the chemo can keep the beast at bay for a good time. My thoughts are with you.

Re: Blood in my stool again....

Hi Sammy, Definitely worth a call to the surgeon. I had a couple of episodes of blood on the paper in my first 12 months after reversal. Surgeon was concerned but not panickey. Upon a digital examination... he decided just haemorrhoids, let him know if it happens again. BUTT if you are concerned - m...

Re: My mom died today

Lisa, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Treasure the good memories and relive them with your girls. A comfortable and peaceful passing in a relatively quick week (yes, I am discounting the cancer battle, recognising that she was eating, drinking, playing with grandchildren last week) and she held ...

Re: O/T DH Lymphoma

Hi Bev, I knew the BMT was involved, having scanned many patients prior to it for cardiac function (along with their PET scans when I worked in a PET department). But when I actually sit down and quietly think about the journey one has to embark on to have one... It is quite daunting. As long as Ste...

Re: Should Pet scan for CRC. involve contrast ?..

Hi Ann, So a PET scan will involve an injection of the radioactive tracer, otherwise known as FDG. If this was not injected, no PET scan. The PET looks for metabolic activity, it is not looking primarily for structural changes. You would need a CT (with contrast unless you are allergic) or an MRI to...

Re: Update on wife not good

Bugger! Well, you can no doubt tell your wife that one cancer patient was quite enough thank you! What does she think she's doing following you down the cancer path!?!? Seriously though, thyroid cancer is usually one of the easiest to treat. There is now a drug called 'Thyrogen' that can negate the ...

Re: Our dear KarMel has passed

Such a strong woman and a tough fighter. So sad to hear her fight is over. Now, she is free of pain, free of cancer and free of the need to fight this beast.

Rest peacefully.

Re: Delirious after surgery

I hope they can get him sorted out... It was a MASSIVE surgery, so a lot for his body to deal with. The delirium could be a combination of the narcotics and the infection. I see lots of patients at work with urinary tract infections that are totally crazy, only to see them a couple of days later and...
