Re: DK37's Personal BIG PICTURE Opinions on CLINICAL TRIALS

Agree Tom, and I would just like to add-- certain trials require a high ECOG status-- sticking with chemo till it fails may even render you UNABLE to participate in a trial. We went the chemo route for about 8 months-- according to the radiologist and onc, met stability was acheived, but moms physic...

Re: Again ... How Do We Go On?

But then I remember Mom - how desperately she wanted me to push this fight as far as it will go. And I remember the one thing in my life I hated more than anything else - to disappoint her. Everything that's good in me is her; the bad is me. I have no regrets about choosing Mom's care over my own. ...

Re: Question for chemo for lifers...

We have discussed liver targeted radiation and chemo. Basically they inject little spheres containing either into my hepatic vein to hit the liver. Not sure of the technical name for it . The thing they are worried about is damaging the good portion of my liver. The goal is to preserve that as much...

Ziggy, if you dont mind me asking, have you had metastatic prostate cancer since 2002, or did it just recently go metastatic? If they have controlled it for 14 years, Im very curious as to what kind of treatments/surgeries have you had for the prostate cancer. I only ask because I recently lost my u...

Re: How bad would it be to quit oxaliplatin?

This is a wonderful forum and thank you all for that. It's also pretty terrifying... I think I'm going to have to be more disciplined about not reading scary threads late into the night. My understanding before landing here was that colon cancer is one of the most curable of cancers and if you're g...

FOLFIRINOX is a tough cocktail. DK37's post on the effects of fasting prior to and during chemo treatment days are extremely intriguing-- please read it if you havent yet, maybe its something that may help you during the treatments. Also, there were many, many Opdivo/Keytruda/ Atezolizumab trials fo...

Re: Death...I have wanted to ask this many times

I've been very fortunate not to lose anyone super close to me. I've always felt really blessed that way. Maybe that's why DH's diagnosis was so hard. To think about losing the closest person to me is overwhelming. I never even considered it until our later years. Despite losing all my grandparents ...

Good to see you still fighting, trying novel approaches Hawk. Your CEA appears to be on a downswing in your sig, not a bad thing I guess! I hope this has some good effects on you. Did you go through with seeing John of God / Joao de Deus ? If so, how was the experience?
