Re: immunotheraphy is a no

Good luck to your mom. Most days I have a small low-fat muffin or a yogurt for breakfast, so yes, I do try to follow the low-fat recommendation before taking the pills. But I have strayed on occasion and didn't notice any difference in terms of gi side-effects. I don't know what would happen to the ...

Re: Planning for RC Surgery Recovery? What to expect??

Hi ABMom, Everyone's situation is different, but here is my take on recovery from my APR 3 years ago: I walked around quite a bit while in the hospital, as suggested by nurses and folks here. So walking for 15-20 minutes was no problem by the time I got home. Sitting was OK initially, but got progre...

Re: Update on mom scan results...

I just responded to your PM. I completely agree with jhocno197 about the lower initial dose. 4 pills/day were a nightmare for me, whereas 2 pills/day is manageable. My lung tumor reduced by half in the first few months and has now been stable for 1.5 years. Even knowing this, I sometimes wonder if R...

Re: Pelvic floor (ass) pain

Hi Kristi, I don't understand how the permanent colostomy would help. Are you suggesting that removing your rectum and anus would also remove your pain? I have a permanent colostomy from APR surgery 3 years ago and I have pain in all the same situations that you described. Sitting, getting up, turni...

Re: Anybody else accindently pull the tubing out of their port...I did :(

I'm sorry for your ordeal. I went through something similar during chemo: Before getting my port, I had a picc line in my arm. I accidently pulled it out on disconnect day, heading out the door to the clinic to get the pump removed. The tubing got caught in my boot and got violently yanked out when ...

Re: Stivarga + Avastin

My local onc's PA said that stigarva is nasty stuff, which why I'm surprised you're still on it after 2 years. How does it stack up (for you) compared to other chemo mixes, as far as the nastiness factor? Stivarga at the recommended dose of 160mg (4 pills) per day was very nasty. Worse than FOLFOX ...

Re: Stivarga, Folfox, Folfiri

I've had 12 FOLFOX treatments, 22 cycles (months) of Stivarga and haven't had Folfiri. For me, in order from worst to easiest: Stivarga at 4 pills/day for 3 weeks felt horrible, but very different to FOLFOX. The fatigue was off the charts and I had mouth sores, sore hands and feet, nose sores and so...

Re: Stivarga + Avastin

I've been on Stivarga almost 2 years now and my onc has never mentioned any benefit of using Avastin as well. Stivarga already inhibits the growth of new blood vessels, which is what my understanding of what Avastin does. Would the combination of the 2 be a double-whammy or an overkill?

Re: Results of my clinical trial - pls read, VERY important

Regardless of your personal belief or disbelief in alternative medecine, the subject of this post is very misleading. These are not the results of a clinical trial, phase 1 or otherwise. They are the results of one person's non-traditional treatment path. I find that to state otherwise is irresponsi...
